Die Transkripte sind software-autogeneriert und werden von Dir in einem Etherpad verbessert. Aufgrund von Akzenten der Speaker und Fachvokabular ist das dringend notwendig.
Danach folgt wieder ein automatisierter Schritt: Das Timing der Subtitles. Auch dieses Ergebnis wird von Dir geprüft. Danach sind die Untertitel fertig!

Bring a little bit of Congress to your home and help with improving quality and accessibility of the CCC recordings! You can work on the subtitles from the comfort of your home, as long or as short as you like to!

How does this work?
The transcripts are generated automatically by speech recognition software and improved and corrected by you. Since talks contain lots of domain-specific terms and may have speakers with heavy accents, this is very much necessary. The next step is again automated: aligning the subtitles to the audio. Again, the result of this process is verified by you. Afterwards, the subtitles are finished!

Hallo am Kongress teilnehmende Lebensformen,

morgen geht der 36c3 leider zu Ende und es steht der Abbau an. Dazu brauchen wir eure Hilfe.

Wir bitten alle Assemblies, pünktlich mit dem Ende des Closing-Event um 18:15 am 30.12. mit dem Abbau ihrer Assembly zu beginnen. Bitte transportiert euren Kram über die Tore Halle 2 – Gate 2.5, Halle 2 – Gate 2.6 and Halle 3 – Gate 3.6 ab. Dort findet ihr Engel mit Hubwägen und Paletten, die euch helfen euer Zeug von eurer Assembly zu bewegen. Die Einfahrt auf das Gelände erfolgt über Tor Süd 1. Bitte baut erst ab, transportiert dann euren Kram vor das Tor und holt danach euer Fahrzeug dort hin.

Nachdem ihr eure Assembly zurückgebaut habt, stapelt bitte Stühle sortenrein auf Stapeln und hinterlasst eure Tische und Stickerfrei. Bitte entfernt dabei die Stühle nicht von eurer/em Assembly/Planquadrant, sondern stapelt sie an Ort und Stelle. Bitte baut nur den Schukoteil der Stromverteilung ab, keine Verteiler. Auch bitten wir euch keine Bühnenelemente, Stellwände, Tische oder sonstige Deko abzubauen außer Leute leiten euch dazu an.

Mit dem Abbau der Assemblies ist es aber nicht getan, für den weiteren Abbau freuen wir uns über jede helfende Hand. Wir erstellen fleißig Abbauschichten im Engelsystem und bitten darum, euch einzutragen. Auch nachdem das Engelsystem offline geht, werden wir noch Abbau betreiben und der Abbau-Heaven wird von Halle 4 aus weiter operieren.

Auch nach dem 30.12. werden wir noch bis zum 4.1. viel Hilfe brauchen. Bitte meldet euch dafür zwischen 10 und 22 Uhr in Halle 4 und haltet nach weiteren Blogposts Ausschau.

TLDR: Tomorrow its over, teardown starts at 18:15, don’t do anything stupid.

Dear life forms participating in Congress,

tomorrow, 36c3 will sadly come to an end and teardown awaits. For that, we need your help.

We ask all assemblies to start dismantling their installations after the Closing Event at 18:15 on December 30th. Please use gates Hall 2 – Gate 2.5, Hall 2 – Gate 2.6 and Hall 3 – Gate 3.6 for loading. There will be angels with pallet trucks to help to move your stuff to the gates. Entry to the premises has to happen via Gate Süd 1. We kindly ask you to first pack your stuff, move it to the gates and only then get your car.

After packing your stuff, please stack your chairs correctly sorted and leave the tables clean. Please do not remove said chairs from your assembly place, but stack them at the very location. Please do only tear down the Schuko part of the power distribution. We kindly ask you not to tear down stage elements, movable walls, tables or any other decorations unless you are asked to.

But tearing down the assemblies is not everything, we are happy for every helping hand. We are creating teardown shifts in the Engelsystem and ask you to sign up for them. After the Engelsystem will have gone offline, we will continue with teardown and Teardown Heaven will operate from Hall 4.

After December 30th, we will need much help till January 4th. Please come to Hall 4 between 10 and 22 o’clock and keep looking for further blog posts.

Heading for Congress, unsure what to do there, interested in applying your impressive language skills? If you are multilingual and fluent in German, English and maybe other languages, please consider joining the translation team.

We interpret ALL talks in the five main halls live and in real-time. German talks are interpreted into English, and vice versa. Our work is transmitted live in the lecture halls, streamed to the Internet, and recordings are published on CCC sites and YouTube. A second translation channel will be operated in the same way.

That is a lot of material to translate and in order to succeed, we need YOU. With the second channel, you have the chance to contribute in an even more special way if you can interpret into another interesting language (from English or German). We’ve so far focused on adding French language translations, but if your skills differ just let us know – especially if you can bring along a few interpreters for the same target language. Sometimes, we might even use the second channel for interesting things that are not (strictly) translations.

Don’t be shy. If you are uncertain whether you’re good enough, chances are that you’ll do just fine. In case you‘re struggling, we will talk it over, no harm done.

Simply send an email to “translate-subscribe(at)lists.ccc.de” and write a quick intro to the mailing list after you’ve completed your subscription. Also sign up as a translation angel at the Engelsystem. Most importantly, come to one of our meetings. The kick-off meeting on 26 Dec, 20:00 would be best, but if you can’t make that, join us at the earliest meeting that you can attend.

Auf dem Weg zum Congress, unsicher, was du dort tun kannst, interessiert daran, deine beeindruckenden Sprachfähigkeiten einzusetzen? Wenn du mehrsprachig bist und flüssig Deutsch, Englisch und eventuell weitere Sprachen sprichst, dann würden wir dich gerne in unserem Übersetzungsteam begrüßen.

Wir dolmetschen ALLE Vorträge in den fünf Sälen live. Deutsche Talks werden nach Englisch übersetzt und umgekehrt. Unsere Arbeit wird direkt in den Sälen übertragen, ins Internet gestreamt und Aufzeichnungen werden auf CCC-Servern sowie auf YouTube veröffentlicht. Zusätzlich gibt es einen zweiten Übersetzungskanal, der auf die gleiche Weise verbreitet wird.

Es gibt also viel zu übersetzen, und dafür brauchen wir DICH. Im zweiten Kanal hast du die Gelegenheit, einen ganz besonderen Beitrag zu leisten, wenn du in eine andere interessante Sprache übersetzen kannst (von Englisch oder Deutsch). Die Hauptsprache dafür wird Französisch sein, aber wenn du andere Interessen hast, sag einfach Bescheid – besonders dann, wenn du einige Dolmetscher·innen für die gleiche Zielsprache mitbringen kannst. Manchmal werden wir den zweiten Kanal vielleicht sogar für interessante Dinge verwenden, die nicht Übersetzungen (im engeren Sinn) sind.

Trau dich. Wenn du dich fragst, ob du gut genug bist, wirst du wahrscheinlich gut klarkommen. Wenn wir glauben, dass du Schwierigkeiten hast, dann reden wir darüber, aber das ist nicht schlimm.

Schicke einfach eine E-Mail an „translate-subscribe(at)lists.ccc.de“ und schreibe eine kurze Vorstellungsmail an die Liste, wenn du fertig eingetragen bist. Registriere dich außerdem als Übersetzungsengel im Engelsystem. Und, noch wichtiger, komm zu einem unserer Treffen. Wir möchten euch ein weiteres wichtiges Engel-Team vorstellen! 

Nicht alle Interessierten konnten ein Ticket kaufen, und nicht alle interessierten Gäste passen immer in jeden Saal. Das ist schade, aber es gibt ja noch die Streams unter https://streaming.media.ccc.de.

Außerdem entscheiden sich manche Teilnehmer*innen, den Stream zu schauen, weil es in der eigenen Assembly gemütlicher ist als im Vortragssaal. Andere bleiben gleich ganz zu Hause und schauen die Vorträge vom eigenen Sofa aus.

Bei spannenden Themen und Vorträgen bleiben jedoch oft Fragen offen, die im Normalfall nur vor Ort in einer anschließenden Q&A-Session gestellt werden können. Damit auch Steam-Zuschauer*innen diese Möglichkeit haben, hilft euch das Signal-Team.

Die “Signal Angels” sind eure Verbindung in den Vortragsaal – mithilfe dieser Engel könnt ihr schon während des Vortrags Fragen stellen. Das Signal-Team sammelt diese und fragt sie dann nach dem Vortrag, sodass auch die Antworten noch im Stream und im Recording landen. Ihr müsst nur wissen, in welchem Vortragssaal der Vortrag stattfindet, das könnt ihr z.B. im Fahrplan nachschlagen, oder an der URL des Streams ablesen.

Not all interested people could buy a ticket, and not all interested guests always fit into every hall. That’s a pity, but there is still the stream at https://streaming.media.ccc.de

Also, some participants decide to watch the stream because  it is more comfortable in their own assembly than in the lecture hall –  others stay at home and watch the lectures from their own sofa.

However, interesting talks tend to leave some questions unanswered, so the audience can ask them in a moderated round of Questions & Answers after each lecture (if there’s time). This possibility is also given to the stream viewers, thanks to the Signal Angel team!

The Signal Angels are your connection to the lecture hall. With the help of these angels, you can already ask questions during the talk. The signal team collects them and asks the questions afterwards during the Q&A-session – that way, the answers also end up in the stream and in the recording. You only have to know in which lecture hall the talk will take place. You can look this up e.g. in the Fahrplan (timetable), or read it out of the URL of the stream.

Desweiteren brauchen wir von euch die Kennzeichen von den Fahrzeugen mit denen ihr auf das Gelände fahren wollt. Bitte schickt euer Kennzeichen in einer Mail an 36c3@c3loc.de oder ruft uns unter 0341-39294864 an, die Pforte lässt nur angemeldete Fahrzeuge passieren.

Die Einfahrt auf das Gelände erfolgt über Tor Süd 1, ihr könnt dann direkt zu den Hallen fahren. Wo euer Assembly ist, erfahrt ihr auf c3nav. Zum Entladen nutzt bitte die Logistikflächen vor den Hallentoren Halle 2 – Gate 2.5, Halle 2 – Gate 2.6 and Halle 3 – Gate 3.6. Dort findet ihr Engel mit Hubwägen und Paletten, die euch helfen euer Zeug zu eurer Assembly zu bewegen. Bitte belegt die Hubwägen und zugehörige Palette nur so lange wie nötig. Es reisen in sehr kurzer Zeit sehr viele Assemblies an.

Bitte beachtet zudem, dass euer Fahrzeug maximal 45 Minuten auf dem Gelände verbringen darf, ansonsten verlangt die Messe Gebühren von euch.

English Version

Dear Assemblies,

please be aware that you need to have your congress-wristband to enter the premises starting from 27.12. Furthermore we need the number plates of the cars with which you intend to deliver stuff. Please send them as a mail to 36c3@c3loc.de or call us at 0341-39294864, the gate will only let declared cars pass.

Entry to the premises has to happen via Gate Süd 1, from there you’re able to drive directly to the halls. You can look up which hall your assembly is placed in using c3nav. Please use the logistics area in front of Hall 2 – Gate 2.5, Hall 2 – Gate 2.6 and Hall 3 – Gate 3.6 to unload. There you will find Angels with pallet trucks which can help you transporting your stuff to your assigned space. Please occupy them as little as possible, a good many assemblies will arrive in short order.

Additionally do keep in mind that your vehicle must at most spend 45 minutes on premise, afterwards the Messe will charge you fees.

tl;dr: we will operate our own cellular network at 36C3. Bring your
mobile phone(s) and C3SIM card(s). Check the Wiki for latest status and device support.

Like previous years at 36C3 the C3GSM team will run a local cellular
network for mobile phones, alongside the
POC’s DECT system and the NOC’s IPv4 and IPv6 systems. As core network
for our cellular network we use the open source projects osmocom (for
2G/3G) and NextEPC (for 4G). There will only be a very limited number of
SIM cards available to buy. However, cards from previous CCC events can
be used, so please don’t forget to bring them.

As always, we had to ask commercial operators for permission to use some
of their parts of the spectrum, which unfortunately has been completely
sold to very few commercial operators.
We got permission to use 5 MHz of the 850 MHz band, which we will use
for 2G/3G and 10 MHz on the 2600 MHz band for 4G (LTE).

That was rather unfortunate news, as we cannot use a 2G or 3G frequency
which is common in Europe. As 850 Mhz is a frequency commonly used in
the US, some of you will not have a phone which can be used for voice
calls as we don’t support voice over LTE yet.

This also means that contrary to our plans (and for a first time since
many years), this year will not see full 2G coverage of the venue, so
that some very old phones may not work in our network at all.

If you have spare old phones, you are willing to donate to the public,
you are encouraged to throw them in our phone dumpster near the GSM
helpdesk. Remember to wipe all your personal data before and attach a
power adapter if not usb-esque.
