Auf dem 31C3 wird es eine Neuauflage der phänomenalen Hackerschnitzeljagd vom 30C3 geben: Die Hackerschnitzelcloud! Mit ihr wird es nicht nur eine einzige Jagd durchs CCH geben, sondern viele.

Die Hackerschnitzelcloud ist eine magische Schnitzeljagd-Plattform, die all Eure Spielideen entgegennimmt und für Eure Spieler und ihre Smartphones abbildet, egal wie abgefahren, verwegen, schwierig oder schreiend komisch sie sind. Ihr könnt einzelne Aufgaben erdenken oder komplexe Spiele auf der Plattform konstruieren.

Keine Spielidee parat? Dann hier ein paar Inspirationen:

• Versteckt einen verschlüsselten Text im CCH, setzt die Spieler darauf an und laßt sie die geheime Botschaft entziffern, die weitere Anweisungen enthält.
• Laßt die Spieler eine Anleitung zusammensetzen, mit der sie einen Schallschraubendreher drucken können, der das Schloß eines Tresors öffnen wird.

Egal, ob Ihr zu einer Assembly oder einem Projekt gehört oder ob Ihr schlicht begnadete Rätselerdenker und Spielegestalter seid und die Congressbesucher mit Euren Werken beglücken oder zur Verzweiflung treiben wollt: Macht mit!

Wir helfen Euch sehr gern bei der Konstruktion, beim Erweitern oder auch Übersetzen der Spielideen. Außerdem gibt es ein How-To (pdf), das helfen wird, jede Spielidee auf der Plattform schnell zu materialisieren und einfach per App zu testen.

There will be a new, even better version of last year’s famous game: The Hackerschnitzelcloud. And there will be not just one game, but many, hunting through the CCH.

The Hackerschnitzelcloud is a magic platform for scavenger hunts. You can submit riddles and missions of all degrees of difficulty and shape them into mind-blowing games playable on mobile phones. You can submit single puzzles or game-like chains of puzzles on the platform.

You don’t have a specific idea for a game? Here are some inspirations:

• Place an encrypted box somewhere in the CCH and let your players search and decrypt it to get further instructions.
• Let your player find the piece of the first ever built beamer, printed with a hidden 3D printer hidden somewhere in the CCH.

Are you part of an assembly or project? Are you simply the best puzzle designer of puzzles and want to bless the Congress attendees with your unrivaled games (or rather, drive them crazy?) Then join in and try our platform!

We are happy to help you with building and extending your game ideas or with the translation of your game instructions. There is also a how-to manual (pdf) that will help you to easily construct your game on the platform and test it with a mobile app.

Like in the previous years, we’re going to supply everyone, and especially those of you who cannot attend 31C3, with live streams (also see the wiki for more information) and recordings of (almost) all of the talks in the four lecture halls of this year’s Congress. In addition, we’ll also support the Sendezentrum, the Lounge and the ambient Chillout Area with their streaming efforts.

Like every year, we’ve been working on a lot of improvements for our setup, some of which will be directly visible to you, while others will mainly help us with the releasing process, prevent us from going insane during those four days or were just fun to try out.

For your benefit, here are some of the things that will be new/different this year. There might be more coming, but we won’t spoil the surprise yet:

• After the successful test run with HD in Saal 1 during 30C3, we’re going to deliver HD streams and recordings from all the lecture halls during 31C3.
• We’ve been experimenting with multicast streaming within the event network for quite some time, but this year we actually managed to clear it with the NOC beforehand. We’d like you to participate in this experiment and tell us how it worked for you.
• In preparation for CCCamp 2015, we’re going to test a new DVB-T setup. We’re going to set up three 500mW DVB-T transmitters to cover most of the CCH.
  Please do bring your DVB-T receiving devices!
• Our friends from the subtitles team will be trying their hands on live subtitling this year. There will be a website which will allow you to view those subtitles on your mobile device. In Saal 1, they’ll also be shown on the projector in an effort to raise awareness for this topic.
• To further aid those with impaired hearing, the audio induction loops of the CCH will be active in all main lecture halls.
• Due to popular demand (and because they’ll land there anyway) we will publish all talks and their audio translation not only on the media.ccc.de website but also on YouTube. You can subscribe to our channel to suggest the platform that you might like to get notified on new recordings.

We hope to give a great Congress to all those who can’t be on-site as well as to those who like to watch the streams while hacking. Follow @c3streaming on Twitter for Congress-related information and @c3voc for general news from the CCC video universe.

Schon seit dem ersten Congress 1984 gibt es viele freiwillige Kohlenstoffeinheiten, die den Congress erst möglich machen. Sie kümmern sich um alles: angefangen beim Aufbau, über die Audio-Aufzeichnungen der Vorträge, Einlasskontrollen, die Pressebetreuung, Simultanübersetzungen bis hin zum Abbau.
 
Dein Einsatz als Engel ist die perfekte Möglichkeit, um selbst Teil des Kongresses zu werden und diesen für alle Anwesenden noch großartiger zu gestalten. Zudem ist das Engeln auch eine super Möglichkeit neue Menschen kennen zu lernen und dich mit ihnen auszutauschen.
 
Als Gegenleistung erhalten die Engel einen ruhigen Platz im berühmten Himmel, inklusive  Essens- und Getränkeversorgung, sowie der Möglichkeit sich mit seinen Fähigkeiten einzubringen und oftmals sogar etwas lernen.
 
Ab sofort könnt ihr euch im Engelsystem registrieren und somit für die Aufgaben, die euch am liebsten sind, eintragen.
 
Um selbst ein Engel zu werden musst Du Dich nur im Engelsystem registrieren. Dort kannst Du Dich dann selbst für Schichten eintragen, die Dir zusagen. Für viele Aufgaben sind keine besonderen Kenntnisse erforderlich, andere jedoch erfordern eine Einführung, die Termine stehen jeweils in der Beschreibung. Weitere Informationen findest Du auf der Engelseite im Wiki.
 
Wenn Du Dir noch unsicher bist, kannst Du auch jederzeit im Himmel vorbei schauen. Die dortigen SchichtkoordinatorInnen freuen sich, dir den Einstieg ins Engelleben zu vereinfachen oder deine Fragen zu beantworten. Du wirst auch immer auf andere Engel treffen, die Dich bei Deinen Schichten unterstützen.
 
Wenn Du zwei, oder mehr, Stunden Leerlauf hast, trage Dich bitte für eine Schicht ein!

Since the first congress of 1984 there have been plenty of voluntary auxiliary carbon compounds that make the whole congress possible. They run everything: introduction of speakers, audio/video streams and recordings, data, electricity and phone networks, bars, build-up, tear-down and even emergency services.
 
Your engagement as an Angel is the perfect opportunity to become a part of congress and make it even more amazing for everyone involved. Apart from that, volunteering is a great chance to meet new people.
 
In return, the angels get a quiet space to relax; the famous ‘Heaven’ includes food and drink supply, as well as the opportunity do do stuff you are good at and even learn a thing or two.
 
As of now you can sign up for the Engelsystem and claim the tasks you like most.
 
To become an angel, all you have to do is to register in the Engelsystem where you can sign up for your favourite shifts, times and tasks. Many of the tasks do not need any knowledge or special training (apart from showing up on time) but are nonetheless vital for the Congress. Other tasks may need an introduction with which you will be provided as necessary at the 31C3. Please read the angel wiki page for basic information.
 
If you are unsure or have doubts please come by the Heaven. The people there will gladly help you to become an Angel or answer your questions. You will also find other Angels there if you need help or support with a particular shift.
 
If you don’t want to participate in making the congress work, at least take your time and thank at least 3 Angels every day to show your gratitude. :)

Die Seidenstrasse, das populäre Rohrpostsystem aus Staubsaugern und Drainagerohr auf dem 30C3 soll es auf dem 31C3 wieder geben.

Neben dem Versenden von Bits wird es auf dem Congress also auch wieder möglich sein, Rohrpostkapseln mit echten Dingen, wie Keksen, Festplatten u.v.a.m. zu verschicken.

Außerdem unterstützt die Seidenstrasse Onion Routing, womit anonyme Kommunikation möglich ist. Hierzu möchten wir klarstellen: Wir haben bis jetzt noch keine Anfrage im Rahmen des US Patriot Acts erhalten.

Um dieses Jahr wieder eine Rohrpost zu haben, brauchen wir eure Hilfe!

Falls ihr euch letztes Jahr Hardware und/oder Material ausgeliehen habt, dass ihr wieder mitbringen könnt, dann tragt euch bitte unbedingt in die entsprechenden Listen im Wiki ein, damit wir eine Übersicht haben.

Das System soll weiterentwickelt werden, damit es auf dem Chaos Communication Camp eine zuverlässige Rohrpost-Infrastruktur geben kann. Aus diesem Grund werden wir uns hauptsächlich auf die Säle 3 und 4 beschränken, damit konzentriert getestet und gehackt werden kann.

Wir brauchen also so viele helfende Hände wie möglich. Bringt eure coolen Ideen ein! Der Aufbau auf dem Congress findet bereits einige Tage vor Beginn statt. Hier brauchen wir Leute, die bereits möglichst früh anreisen und Lust haben, die Seidenstrasse wieder zum Leben zu erwecken.

Wer mitmachen möchte meldet sich einfach auf der Mailingliste oder im hackint IRC unter #seidenstrasse. Auch im Wiki gibt es schon einige Informationen.

Und wenn ihr eine Möglichkeit habt, ein paar Rollen Drainagerohr bis zum Camp im kommenden Jahr zu lagern, dann tragt Euch bitte auch ein. Alles was wir einlagern können, müssen wir im Sommer nicht neu kaufen!

“Seidenstrasse”, the popular pneumatic tube delivery system made from vacuum cleaners and drainage pipe at 30C3 will reappear at the 31C3.

Besides sending and receiving bits like you are used to, it will also be possible again to send capsules containing “real” stuff like cookies, hard drives and many more things.
In addition Seidenstrasse supports onion routing to enable you to communicate anonymously.
We also want to let you know: We have not yet received an order under Section 215 of the USA Patriot Act.

To have a pneumatic tube system again this year, we need your help!

If you borrowed hardware and/or material last year and you can bring it back this year, please add it to the respective lists in the wiki.

The goal this year is to develop the system further to be able to have a reliable pneumatic delivery infrastructure at the camp next year. Because of this, Seidenstrasse will be smaller than at 30C3 and mostly take place in Halls 3 and 4. This way, we can concentrate on hacking and thoroughly testing the system.

We need every helping hand we can get. Get in touch and develop cool ideas! Buildup at the Congress will take place a few days before Congress actually starts. We need people who will be there early and want to bring Seidenstrasse back to life.

If you want to participate, get in touch via our mailing list or via hackint IRC in #seidenstrasse. The wiki already has some info as well.

Also, if you have a way to store a few rolls of drainage pipe until camp next year, please add it to the wiki. Everything we can store somewhere doesn’t need to be purchased again next summer.

After the big success of the Art & Culture track at the 30c3 we knew it would be hard to get a program as good as this one again. But yes, we succeeded. We got some great submissions to our lovely planning systems and we acquired some others.

I want to make a short walk through of the A&C track to give you a glimpse on what you can expect from these talks. Please note that the talks here have no particular order:

• ES GIBT VIEL ZU TUN – HAUN WIR AB (German)
  There is this old appartment in Chemnitz which had not been touched for 20 years. Time stood still in these rooms until people were allowed to get inside it via robots. The talks is about the experience people made when walking the line between curiosity and voyeurism.
• Superheros still need phoneboxes (English)
  Let’s think about a network where people share their free minutes on their mobile contracts. People who use this network need to think about identity. The talk will be about the experience made with this network at the FutureEverything festival 2014.
• Attribution Revolution (English)
  In the light of the cultural revolution made with CC licenses we now need to think about attribution of art. In a world where everything is a remix, who is involved in this piece of art?
• Serenität – Anleitung zum Glücklichsein (German)
  Most of you know Elektra from her engagement in Freifunk and Meshnetworks. Here she is presenting her newest protocol on how to be happy. Get in touch with the art letting the brain brain and stop thinking.
• The Only Thing We Know About Cyberspace Is That Its 640×480 (English)
  Remember Geocities? Remember that it had been shut down? Yeah, sad. Now here is the ultimative presentation of its content in context of digital folklore. get some perls of the 90ies!
• Die Krise der Bilder ist die Krise der Politik (German)
  Pictures, their creation and their reception are changing. This talk is trying to give answers why there is no good picture for surveillance and we might know afterwards how much of politics is an orchestration of pictures. (Highly pictured)
• The Machine To Be Another (English)
  Let’s explore each others identity with machines and neuroscience!
• The Taste of Surveillance (German/English)
  “The nature of your oppression is the aesthetic of our resistance.” Let’s ge t a view on artistic treatment of privacy and surveillance. Get a lecture about ethical and cultural questions while you consume art.
• [“Exploit” in theatre][9] (English)
  Coming from the DiscourseFestival directly to Hamburg! This talk will give us an insight into the “california ideology” and three different plays as counter-examples. In fact the question is “post-existentialism” not “post-privacy”.
• [»Hard Drive Punch«][10] (German)
  Aram Barthol is coming again to the congress. Let’s talk about the destruction of data(storage) and maybe we will gain insight in some new ways of destroying data.
• [The Magical Secrecy Tour][11] (English)
  Get first time insight of the footage taken while people were driving through berlin and were visiting locations involved in surveillance. Get an artistic glimpse on how you can create a new reception of a building or location. It is year two after the Snowden-files had been published and year two where we still walk past the surveillance complex and nothing has changed.
