You don’t know what the Camp will be like?

photos of the chaos communication camp 2003
The Camp is an event that words can’t really describe. I can write about hackers from all over the world camping on an old military airport with power and ethernet in every tent.

But can you imagine it? Things like nerds barely awake taking a shower under a fire hose, some hundred of them sitting in a big hall hacking at their computers all night long, a rocket named Fairydust illuminated with a great light installation, nerds cooking lunch on a camping stove, switches put in (empty) porta potties wrapped in silver foil to protect them from dust, heat and interested hackers, hacker kids …

GPN6 in Karlsruhe

DE

A culinary journey through the villages of the Camp

EN

Villages are a big part of the Camp experience. These places are more than just a bunch of tents put up together – here people tend to camp together under a common theme. While there are thematic villages, there are also villages with a regional focus.

It makes sense to travel together and set up a village of tents from one specific region. Being an international event, this means that you can experience a rich selection of samples of international cuisine at the Camp, as several hackers already announced to bring local food to the site.

You may want to start your day in the Austrian village, …

Chaos Communication Camp 2007: FINAL Call for Papers

EN

The Chaos Communication Camp is an international, five-day open-air event for hackers, builders, and makers organized by the Chaos Computer Club (CCC), to be held from August 8 to 12 on an old Russian military airfield near Berlin.

The camp probably is the best place for some of the most interesting inhabitants of the planet to meet, greet, and discuss. If you’ve ever wanted to meet some of the masterminds behind tomorrow’s technology and social structures while they’re sunbathing, cooking or launching a kite, this is your chance.

Till June 5th there’s still a chance to send in lectures or …

Hackers on a Plane

DE EN

Was würde ein Hacker-Camp an einem Flughafen vollkommen machen? Natürlich die Anreise in einem Flugzeug. Landeanflug, Aussteigen, kurzer Fußmarsch, fertig. Klingt spannend, cool?

Camp-Ticket Prices?

EN

Well, yes. We know, we promised to have the final ticket prices up within April. To make a long story short: We wont make it – it will take another week, or something like that, and frankly, we are as frustrated about this fact as you are.
We are still waiting for some offers by companies supplying us with infrastructures, stuff like power, additional toilets, showers, fences, and so on. Their offers should be already here, but they apparently didn’t make it – and we are unable to make our final calculations as long as we don’t have these price estimates. It is a Chaos camp, after …

Call for villages

EN

The Camp is divided into small villages that provide structure and give the participant to join a certain area of interest. A village might feature people doing extra workshops following their own agenda in their own tent. There is no central planning for this kind of events. If you are interested in a specific area, just place your tent appropriately and get in touch.

However: If you plan to bring big tents (more than 10 square metres), please mention this within the next two weeks in the Camp Wiki, using our Village Template (see this source for a sample how to do that), so we can plan space …
