39C3 needs your help! No Congress would be possible without the many volunteers, called Angels (German: Engel).

Whether you’re participating for the first time or have already experienced many cycles, helping as an Angel is always a great way to meet new beings, get a look behind the scenes, and create unforgettable experiences for yourself and others.

If you’d like to help, register in the Engelsystem. After your arrival at Congress, come to the Angel registration on the right side of the entrance hall. There you’ll receive your Angel badge and can then freely sign up for shifts for upcoming …

This year at 39C3, there will be photos of the Congress with hand-drawn figures. All persons will be digitally overdrawn and thus anonymized. This is an exception to the photo policy. “Creature ChroniCles” is an artistic pictorial documentation of Congress events. Graphic designer Stella (known for her Congress designs for 33C3 and 35C3 and for Camp23) will take photos of interesting scenes and nice interactions/installations throughout the entire duration of 39C3 and then anonymize all persons represented in the photos by painting …

Once again, the Haecksen will be enhancing the Congress programme with a workshop room! The Haecksen are a group of FLINTA people with an interest in technology, aiming to promote intersectional feminist perspectives within the hacker scene and STEM professions. The Call for Participation for the Haecksen workshop programme is already live. Now is the time to submit your concepts for workshops, discussion groups or evening events.

In eager anticipation of 39C3, the dozens of curators in our six content teams have been working hard over the past few weeks: they have sent out invitations, evaluated submissions, written letters, researched, compared, created and discarded common themes, refined and tied up their loose ends, sorted, evaluated, and discussed submissions. Finally, they were able to distill the 763 submitted and invited talk proposals down to 164 and put together a plan that we are all convinced will provide us with an informative, entertaining, and memorable program on stage.

Earlier than ever before, the design team is giving us the opportunity to adorn flags, circuit boards, sunglasses, and websites with the hot Congress partner look. To this end, the two designers of 39C3, Nina Bender and Bernd Volmer, have lovingly crafted a design guide with a matching font that should spur our creativity and enable many playful and nerdy interpretations.
