What can science fiction help us imagine that we may not be able to imagine otherwise? Can science fiction provide a way to envision post-capitalist techno-utopias (and is that something we want)? What do you think about certain sci-fi becoming mimetic to describe civil liberties violations and surveillance capabilities? We will focus on these issues but will open the discussion to a broad conversation about science fiction as well.
Feel free to bring a few books (in any language) for a science fiction book swap!
