eBrainPool aims at allowing discovery and use of software from any device around you. It does this by creating an ad-hoc wifi mesh network of all devices around you, people in this network can use the eBrainPool client to discover all the software with anyone in this pool and request to run a software from a user. The software runs on the remote device but can be used on your local laptop, phone, tablet, etc. The long term goals of eBrainPool are to provide software and computing power as a shared resource to the pooled in community. It offers an alternate way of computing whereby people can use software others are willing to share regardless of operating system requirements or other architectural considerations - someone with an N900 phone can use software from a Linux laptop (currently possible) or someone from a Mac or any other OS can use software from Linux systems, etc.
We currently have working code for the Linux platform we would like to demonstrate. While we've covered a lot of ground in bringing this concept to a usable state, there's a lot of work that remains and a lot we don't know. We hope to spark a flow of ideas that come forth from people more knowledgeable than us at CCC :
