The food stalls in the Messe halls only provide single-use plates and cutlery. It's too big of an effort to manage re-usable plates and cutlery during an event of this size, at the moment. Here is the statement by fairgourmet (German only) about what kind of single-use material they use. It's various biodegradable materials. However, they only degrade in industrial compostation, which is not yet adapted too all of these materials. That means it's still better to avoid this kind of waste as much as possible.
As we posted here, you could bring your own cutlery to help reducing waste. In case you forgot your own cutlery or couldn't bring it for another reason, the following might be for you:
We have 240 stainless steel sporks (combination of spoon and fork) with a length of ~20 cm that cost us approximately 2 € each. Against a donation for our projects we gladly give them out. We also provide various means of marking them with your nickname if you'd like that. 240 is slightly more than 1% of the 36c3 population, we have no idea how fast they will be sold out. Please come with coins to pay the exact amount, ideally with a 2 € coin, as we won't have lots of change.

Die Essensstände der Messe stellen nur Einweggeschirr und Einwegbesteck zur Verfügung. Es ist im Moment noch zu aufwendig um für eine Veranstaltung dieser Größe Mehrweggeschirr und -besteck zu verwenden. Hier ist die Beschreibung von fairgourmet der Einweg-Materialien, die verwendet werden. Es sind verschiedene kompostierbare Materialien. Allerdings können sie in sinnvoller Zeit nur in einer industriellen Kompostierungsanlage zersetzt werden. Solche Anlagen sind auch noch nicht auf alle diese Materialien vorbereitet. Das bedeutet es ist immer noch besser diese Art Abfall so weit es geht zu vermeiden.
Wie wir hier gepostet haben, könntest du dein eigenes Besteck mitbringen um Abfall zu vermeiden. Falls du dein eigenes Besteck vergessen hast oder aus einem anderen Grund keins mitbringen konntest, könnte das folgende etwas für dich sein:
Wir haben 240 Göffel (Kombination aus Gabel und Löffel) bzw. auf Englisch Sporks. Sie sind etwa 20 cm lang und haben uns ca. 2 €/Stück gekostet. Gegen eine Spende zur Unterstützung unserer Projekte kannst du gern einen haben. Wir haben bei uns am Stand auch verschiedene Möglichkeiten mit denen ihr eure Spork mit eurem Namen versehen könnt. 240 ist etwas mehr als 1% der Personen, die den 36c3 besuchen werden; wir können schwer abschätzen, wie schnell unsere Sporks ausverkauft sein werden. Geld wechseln sollte prinzipell zwar gehen aber garantieren können wir es nicht.
