Everyone has seen pictures of starved children, but in most cases it is not as easy to identify if a child is malnurished or not. NGOs like UNICEF, Action against Hunger or Welthungerhilfe have the need for experts who have undergone special training an take regular tests on their capability to capture age, weight and especially height of children. It takes a lot of time and money to evaluate emergency situations like in Yemen or Sudan and chronic situations like in India or Africa.

We are building a open source solution to help NGOs combat malnutrition of children and reach the goal of zero hunger by 2030. For the Pilot in India in 2018 we use Google Project Tango devices and machine learning to build a mobile solution for so called SMART Surveys. We still need help in the field of 3D measurement and online training of neural networks. Also we want to discuss ethics and privacy measures.
