In this workshop we will tell you how to get started using the ESP8266 WiFi module. You will learn, which software you need to install on your computer, how to connect to the device and how to flash the NoceMCU Firmware and a first init Lua script to the ESP8266.

We offer about 15 ESP8266 wifi modules at cost (ESP8266 + USB cable, about 5 Euros) for the first attendees. Bring your own notebook with you and try to get the ESP8266 running with your equipment.

Prerequisites: java, python2.7, pySerial

(!) We highly recommend to install the needed languages Java (all OS) and Python2.7 (Linux & OS X) in advance and familiarize yourself, how to execute python2 programms on your system (e.g. if you have more than one python installation e.g. python3, Linux and OS X concerned only)

We are a group of students of Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany. You may find us at the Bogonauten assembly. Languages: de-Deutsch, en-English
