Description Matrix is an open standard for decentralised communication. Riot is a messenger built on top of Matrix that supports group chats, multiple devices, persistent history and end to end encryption among other features.

You can run your own server and bridge to other platforms like IRC, Gitter, Slack and more. In this talk I'll introduce you to Matrix and Riot, show you how it works, what you can do with it and why it is awesome.

Note that I'm not a Matrix.org team member.
