Rypl, vegan, Chodsko Czech Republic, family Recipe, being prepared by Algoldor
Note
This recipe is specific to my region. There are variations spread all over the Europe and probably even further but I'll give you the one which I've been told by my mother. The dish is extremely simple consisting from shredded potatoes, wheat flour and salt, all baked in oven and that is it. Many ingredients can be added if you like.
Ingredients:
3000 g of grated washed potatoes (doesn't have to be peeled)
200 - 300 g of wheat flour
15 g of sea sea salt
Cookware needed:
grater for potatoes
baking paper or some type of oil
Directions:
- switch on the oven (200°C)
- prepare the sheet pan and lay out the baking paper on the top
- grate the potatoes on a rough grater in to the bowl
- add the flour and salt and mix well
- start to sprinkle the mix on the baking paper making sure that the layer is not very thick so it can bake through
- move to the oven and let to bake for 20-40 min depending on the oven type and temperature
- take it out, and if prepared properly take whole piece of rypl out and break it into parts
- serve warm alone or with what you wish. The combination with meat sauce is delicious.
