Opensource Solar
This project is about creating an open source low-cost universal photovoltaic power supply. It consists of a solar panel (home-built), microcontroller charge controller, LiFePO4 battery, DC/DC converters, and a LED lighting system. You can learn about all these components, build a USB LED light (ideal for camping !) from a beverage can, and help hooking up the microcontroller to WLAN equipment.

- learn about photovoltaics

- build a USB LED light for camping from a can (coke light can, for example)

- look at home-built solar panels and discuss their construction

- discuss open hardware, especially in connection with social business

- play with MSP430 microcontrollers

- help hooking up the charge controller to WLAN equipment (power and serial link to access battery state of charge from the WEB and control on/off times to save energy)

- help improving the website

- design µC controlled, solar powered, temperature regulated fruit drying equipment
