Heart Of Gold

Heart Of Gold

The story of the spaceship Heart Of Gold is a long and sometimes tragic one. We are not going to repeat everything that has been said so far but it can be considered public knowledge that this technology-loaded vessel is probably one of the most remarkable objects in this galaxy's recent history.

First contact with the crew of the Heart Of Gold has been established around five years ago. The ship needed urgent repair and so the Intergalactic Contact Group of the Chaos Computer Club decided to call together Earth's hackers to gather for a three-day meeting to help the crew. This event was later known as the first Chaos Communication Camp.

Since then four years have passed and the Heart Of Gold has announced it's return to the blue planet. The crew wants to share knowledge about its recent expedition to planet Marplon 4 where they discovered a yet unknown substance called Fairy Dust. The substance is emitted by a robotic plant and is reportedly a yet unknown species of nanorobotic organism. The substance autonomously intrudes all kinds of electronic devices causing unexpected but welcome self-repairing effects.

The Crew

For the first time, the Intergalactic Contact Group has received detailed data on the crew of the Heart Of Gold. While the crew decided to stay in earth orbit, they are about to join the Landing Ground that has been prepared to host the second Chaos Communication Camp. Be prepared! We are now introducing you to the key members of the crew.

But first, we must sprinkle you with fairy dust.

Eris

Eris

Eris is of unknown origin. Not much is known about Eris, but rumour has it that her capabilites are quite extraordinary. She was the first to establish contact with the inward structures of Fairy Dust.

Eris has been on the ship for countless years. Her pervasive style has led the crew thorugh uncounted adventures and is the basis for the current performance of the group.

Eris is also described as following the Principle Of Discord eventually creating a rulership without rulers, leadership without leaders and stirring unlimited creativity among her followers. Eris usually solves all your problems and in return she expects you to solve all her problems.

Spark

Spark

Spark has been a space hacker for a long time and has developed special capabilities in intergalactic navigation. Known to be a day dreamer he is nonetheless a fast thinker and is also responsible for the strategic planning and operation of the ship's hyperdrive.

Spark is of human descent but has spent the last 300 years in the area of Ursa Major. He joined the crew three years ago.

Spark is a proud member of the Golden Apple Corps and as such a Keeper of the Holy Chao.

Flux

Flux

Flux is the ships main Discordian Philosopher and responsible for interethnic relationships. He regularly consults his Pineal Gland.

His flying pyramid is his digital co-brain and is directly coupled with the ships's main computer system and communication lines. So Flux can forecast any erratic behaviour and usually intercepts most errors before they occur. The pyramid also acts as an cryptographic decoder and encoder securing the privacy of intersteller transmission on Subether.

Flux has reviewed time and space and has reduced the whole to a single axiom: "All Is One, Except Zero"

Lisp

Lisp

Lisp is the main engineer and lead programmer of the Heart Of Gold. Being a longtime crew member, she oversees all communication equipment, the central computing unit and the ships mobile intercom systems.

Like Spark, Lisp is of human descent and has joined the crew at the last Chaos Communication Camp.

Puzzle

Puzzle

Puzzle is the free-floating special agent of the Heart Of Gold. He is responsible for what everybody else is usually not responsible for.

Puzzle's boots feature a built-in hyperslider wheel set ideally suited for fast movement within the Heart Of Gold. There does not exist any reliable report on the usefulness of this application outside the realms of the ship.
