Read the following paragraphs carefully! "I don't read instructions" is NOT a virtue! Let us know if any information is missing in the following paragraphs, the workshop readme or guide. We do appreciate constructive improvement contributions. :)

Get started with FPGA development using the open-source toolchain. In this workshop you will learn how to write a simple combinatorial and synchronous digital logic design with your favourite text editor and a simple command line. Make sure to install the FPGA toolchain on your laptop and to bring a working (not just for charging) micro USB cable. Toolchain installation instructions:

What do I need?

  • Bring your own laptop. (Windows 10, Mac OS and Linux "should" work, but have a Ubuntu install as a backup if you can)
  • Bring a tested micro USB cable that can transfer data!!! If you can bring a backup one.
  • Install the toolchain before the workshop, otherwise you will be wasting your valuable workshop time with toolchain installation.
  • We will provide you with the iCEBreaker and 7Segment display for the duration of the workshop. You will have to return it after the workshop is over.

Can I buy the workshop hardware?

It will NOT be available at the hardware hacking assembly kit table! PLEASE DO NOT ASK THEM!!!

If you want to keep or independently get the hardware you will have to find User:Esden. Hint, he might announce on his twitter where you can find him. :D

Location of workshop (Hardware Hacking Area)

The workshop takes place in the Mammoth Space at the Hardware Hacking Area. The Hardware Hacking Area is located on the West side of Exhibition Hall 2
