There is a world outside the congress building
Hackertours started with the idea in mind, that many visitors not from the city the congress is in only experience the congress building and their hotel room. But there is so much more fun tech stuff to see in the city. So why not organize tours to add some extra fun to your congress visit?
Exciting things to see!
We found as many interesting things to do in Leipzig as we did in Hamburg. For our third year in Leipzig we have the following tours arranged:
- Airport Halle-Leipzig
- Deutsches Buch- und Schriftmuseum
- Historical Trade Fair
- Letterpress Museum
- Stasi Museum

How hackertours works
Hackertours is not a tour provider. We just arrange and pre-book tours with different tour providers we think would be interesting to congress visitors. Then we offer the seats on these tours through our webpage. You pay only the price the tour costs and all the money goes to the tour providers. We will arrange to go to the tour sites together and find the best price for public transportation to get there.
36c3 public transport ticket
To get to all locations you will need a public transport ticket. Good thing that's included in your congress ticket! This will help you to get around and to most of the tour sites (not including the airport).
Even better: Children up to the age of 6 do not need a public transport ticket and can travel for free!
Leipzig Airport
- We meet at the assembly at 11:30 for the 12:45 tour and 15:30 for the 16:45 tour. If you can be earlier at the assembly, please try.
- Bring your passport! if you are 16 or older.
- It would be very helpful if you have the mail with the "paid" status on your device to save us time. We need to fill out a list of participants, with the full address and passport number. Yes, on paper! #sigh (Datenschutz/data protection)
Please note that Leipzig airport is an airport. There will be security checks. Don't bring stuff with you you wouldn't normally bring to an airport. No weapons, no knifes, no nail files (full list).
Since the airport is outside of Leipzig you need an additional public transport ticket for two "MDV zones" to get to the airport for 3,30€ per direction. Here's the manual for the ticket machine at the S-Bahn station: Select MDV, then "zone selection from list", then the zones 163 and 162. Then buy the ticket.
We highly recommend buying the public transport ticket in advance! We will be a rather large group with up to 48 people and the train station only offers two ticket machines. Use the easy.go app and/or find a "ticket partner" for the 4-journey-ticket (which would enable two people to travel to the airport and back and is a little bit cheaper than single tickets). You can also buy single tickets or day tickets for up to 10 people after selecting that kind of ticket.
