Final Day

Session:Hackers_Against_Climate_Change got some fantastic work, much respect, a lot of insightful realisation.

Heads-up - we are planning an assembly for CCCAMP19.

On the final day we will gather together.

See you there!

31.12.2018 update

Sorry guys, I didn't deliver, no excuses, wasted potential.

Too much, too everything, room was too big and my levels of energy were not there.

These guys did much more work - https://events.ccc.de/congress/2018/wiki/index.php/Session:Hackers_Against_Climate_Change - follow them!

Non-violent direct action in the online space - we still need to figure that out, that should be actually the main focus, instead there was too much of a meta discussion - again I'm terribly sorry. Time is key, being to the point is essential.

May the force be with you.

And I try not to beat myself too hard - taking lessons onboard and moving on.

Keeping in touch

First session update

The room was full, people sitting on the floor, didn't expect that, was worried noone would come. But you came, the room was full, clearly people are aware of what is going on...

Use of communication tools

Choosing battles wisely. Using Facebook to reach out, appeal to the masses - probably still necessary. Sorry if a discussion went too much in that direction.

Using that momentum

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_European_Parliament_election

The next Elections to the European Parliament are expected to be held in 23–26 May 2019.

We can be strategic with or actions - 10 MEP (Members of the European Parliament) can sufficiently promote pro-climate agenda.

Media attention

NOT shutting the the internet

What can we do to trigger change?

Seeking an alternative and meaningful way to protest online.

This was pretty substantial: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protests_against_SOPA_and_PIPA

These ones seem rather basic, hardly noticeable:

We need something comparable to #metoo, something catchy like #1planet - that is also a reminder that we should put planet first above profit.

Global political party

If a goal of a protest is to influence decision makers, maybe we can use the social capital and rather than "influencing" decision makers - become decision maker ourselves.
