Description CAcert provides SSL certificates for free. Using a process of community-based (optional) verification of users identities (so-called Assurances), CAcert merges PKI together with Web-of-Trust. At the assembly, we will offer information about CAcert and related topics. Furthermore, we will offer new members to get Assurances and strengthen CAcert's Web of Trust even further.

Character of assembly place to show and meet
Seats needed 10
Extra seats 5
Assembly specification loud place ok, want sit public, want bright light
Planning notes We don't need anything special except a few seats for our Assurers and all the visitors: That's why we'd like to have 5 or more extra seats, not just 2 or 3. The number of 10 Assurers is a very conservative estimate. At peak times, I expect the number of Assurers present to be about twice as much. Any space at Noisy Square would be great, again.
past congress review For the last two C3s we were placed at Noisy Square. That was great, because we got many interested visitors and performed several hundred Assurances in those 4 days alone. Noisy Square is easy to find for people interested in CAcert and great to get in contact with other people from all around.

CAcert is a unique world-wide community that provides SSL certificates for free. Using a process of community-based (optional) verification of users identities (so-called Assurances), CAcert merges Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) together with Web-of-Trust (WoT). At the assembly, we will offer information about CAcert and related topics. Furthermore, we will offer all members (and those who are about to become CAcert members) to get Assurances and strengthen CAcert's Web of Trust even further.

If you want/need free-of-charge SSL certificates (not just for Web Servers but for other useful things, as well), check out https://cacert.org/ and visit us at the CAcert Assembly at 32C3! We will be happy to answer any questions related to crypto, SSL, PKI, Web-of-Trust etc. and discuss things with people interested in these and related topics.
