Because digital cinema standards do not include digital transport, we're witnessing an increasing concentration of the operators at EU level. This situation is harmful for exploitation and distribution diversity. Internet being a neutral network, it's possible to create and deploy and independent solution with already existing free software technologies.

Taking roots in the very architecture of the Internet, combining P2P technologies, free software and non-profit Internet access, The DCP Bay aim at providing an alternative for indie cinema theathers and distributors.

Today, more than fifteen theaters take part in the distribution network and we expect to reach a hundred in a few months. Cinema and P2P have been put in opposition in the past and this project proves that it's possible to combine them in an efficient and mutually beneficial way.
