Projectmovie
The project is finally complete! I had to ommit some of my goals, but still the output is a nice piece of video. Go and download the movie from [1] and use one of the cool mirrors!
What's this about?
The Projectmovie 2009 (Watch on vimeo.com: [2]) was a highly unplanned gonzo production. Meant to become a 90 minute feature film, it ended up being a cute 40-minute tour around the 26C3 with waaaay too long intro and outro. At least it was licensed as CC-BY and provided a good laugh and some real information.
For this year, there will be just a bit more of planning. Not too much, anyway, to keep the gonzo style alive.
Even though it will be "just a feature film" with a zero-budget (really, there's no funding for this and most likely nobody involved will ever see any money), image and audio quality is highly valued. Audio will be recorded in 48 khz, video recorded will be 1920x1080p with 24fps. (See NYAQ-Section for details)
This project depends on participation of other project groups. The plan is to feature YOU as a star of this movie-production. You and your team can give an interview, explain a project, demo some cool software or just be as awesome as you already are. Attendees of the 27C3 are usually very careful about privacy and the production team will keep this in mind.
In the Projectmovie 2010 you will see:
- Interviews
- Demonstration of hacks and other technology
- A bunch of cool views of the venue
- Maybe some nice tutorials
- Lots of cool things!

NYAQ (Not Yet Asked Questions)
- What about privacy?
- We care about privacy!
- You can be as public and/or (!) as anonymous as you want.
- You can show up in front of the cam and talk or stay invisible, maybe only lending us your voice or simply giving us a text to be narrated over the sequence later.
- You can choose wether your real name, your nickname or no name at all will be displayed during the movie and in the titles.
- What languages will the movie be in?
- German
- English
- Possibly French
- There's no plan for dubbing of any kind!
- We will provide subtitles
- Whats the planned playtime of Projectmovie 2010?
- About 90 minutes. Pinky-promise!
- What equipment will you use? Can I bring my stickcam?
- The team will shoot on a Canon EOS 5Dmk2 with the fastest lenses available.
- We will use external microphones to provide the best audio possible.
- The recording framerate will be 23.976 fps aka 24p
- If you want to help with your equipment: 24 fps and 720p oder 1080p is a must. No discussion.

- Become an interviewer
- Become a narrator
- Become a subtitle translator
- Become a movie extra and do crazy shit. :)
- Can I bring images/videos?
- In general: Yes, if licensed under CC-BY or simliar, with consent of everyone seen on the image/video.
- Images that you took yourself, with a resolution of at least 1280x720: Yes.
- Videos taken with a highspeed camera: Yes, even at lower resolutions. The only exception from this requierement, btw.
- Videos with a progressive resolution of 720p or 1080p and 24 fps with decent lighting and audio: Yes.
- Videos that don't match the above technical standards: Only if the overall quality is good and worth the hassle of conversion. Oh, and the content should be breathtaking! :)
