F2F
Friend2Friend (F2F) is a design for cryptographically identified XML virtual machines to host users' XML data and applications. The system is highly modular and has a range of Xpath/XSD/XSLT-based hooks for software developers. F2F script extends XSLT by adding methods for communications, crypto, disk and system access. We'd like to...
- meet up with others developing federated social software technology.
- share the bigger picture of F2F servers as a secure decentralization of Web Sites.
- give you support with F2F, hear ideas for which software to develop for F2F.

What an F2F VM is good for
- Powering decentralised social software
- Automating XSLT-based data transforms
- Creating of semantic web mashup software/sites
It was conceived as a platform for implementing Altruistic Economics (a decentralised accounting system for a global Gift Economy), but would suit any software that needed access to personal data, expressible in XML, which wanted secure networking and/or operation of instructions on multiple machines.
Project Status
- Code is currently broken in the latest PHP version :-(.
- A PHP5 version which runs as a daemon and throws a soft stack traces if it encounters exceptions
- A GUI for running multiple F2F systems on one host, and inspecting individual packets
- We need to evaluate the new W3C XML crypto spec, whether it is functional enough for use
- It currently lacks an effective transport system
- Thinking about Java as a preferred language to code it in, to avoid the PHP bugs.
