Description | BlinkenArea was founded on Camp 2003 by people who built LED-versions of Blinkenlights (arcade). The main people are still the same. The scope of our work broadened over time, but it is still about light, art, LEDs and electronics. We also teach soldering. |

BlinkenArea was founded shortly before the camp 2003 in a post in the BlinkenMini Forum by people who built LED-versions of Blinkenlights. The name "area" comes from the fact, that we were located in the "art and beauty area". Our group met again on several Camp, i.e. WTH2005, HAR2009, CCCamp2011, OHM2013, and we are now planning to have a great time on CCCamp2015.
While we started with only LED-based replicas of Blinken* projects, our scope broadened over time. We developed electronic kits with a lot of LEDs, which we sell at cost price at camps. We also enjoy teaching how to solder (both through-hole and SMD), so come to BlinkenArea if you want to learn how to do this.
Besides small electronic projects, we participated in a few bigger projects: TROIA in 2005, bluebox in 2006-2007, EPKOT in 2012 and PoWER in 2014.
Some of the newer projects of BlinkenArea members are LED circuits on fabric and art installations about privacy.
Here are some things you might be able to see at CCCamp2015's BlinkenArea: ArcadeMaxi - a replica of Blinkenlights arcade, BlinkenBag, bulb kits for soldering, LittleLights - a replica of Blinkenlights, Microscope - a replica of Stereoscope, TROIA Prototype
