I’m an Irish software and hardware engineer, educator, and community organiser. I spend a lot of my free time at TOG Hackerspace in Dublin, building practical things with electronics, sensors, radio, and a bit of nonsense when appropriate.
At 39C3 I’ll be hanging around the Hardware Hacking Area, running a few hands-on workshops:
- Build Your Own Satellite Ground Station (TinyGS)
- IoT with Arduino Cloud, beginner-friendly
- Build Your Own Air Quality Sensor (Sensor.Community)
When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me with the Irish Embassy, a loose collective of Ireland-connected folks who pool resources and create a shared base at events. Not government-related, mostly power adaptors and cups of tea.
Interests
- Hardware hacking, sensors, and IoT
- LoRa, community radio projects, and practical antenna builds
- Amateur radio and radio experiments, callsign EI7IRB
- Citizen science, environmental monitoring, and open data
- Repair culture, fixability, and keeping good gear out of the bin
- Workshops that get people building within the first 10 minutes
