Chaos Mentors / Chaospat:innen

At Chaos Mentors, we connect experienced mentors with first-time visitors of Congress. Our goal is to make Congress more inclusive by supporting those who might not usually attend, including people with special needs.

Why are we doing this?

We’ve each enjoyed Congress for 1, 2, 10, or even 30 years, but we still remember how difficult the first step can be — many of us started as Chaos Mentees ourselves. Thoughts like, “Do I even belong at a big hacker conference?” are familiar. But rest assured, once you’re here, you’ll meet amazing people and discover a lot about yourself. More importantly, Congress thrives on the diversity of its attendees, and the community has much to learn from your unique perspective. That’s why we encourage those who might hesitate, especially those outside the majority demographic of cis, white, male participants, to join us.

Who are the Chaosmentors for?

Are you a hacker or from an underrepresented group, or unsure if you’ll feel comfortable at Congress? Do specific needs make participation difficult, or do you feel disconnected from the community despite your interest in topics like data protection, security, or hardware hacking? Chaosmentors welcome you to Congress and want to help you start smoothly. As a “Chaos Mentee” you’ll be matched with a mentor and fellow mentees who can guide you, answer questions, and explore the event with you. We’ll help you find workshops, talks, and provide a meeting point during the congress to relax and meet others.

Registration is now open!

Register before the 10th of December by signing up on our chaosmentors platform with a few details about yourself. Please register as early as possible, as we will start creating the groups before the 10th of December.

Tell us a bit about yourself - for example, what brings you to the Congress, why you are contacting the Chaosmentors, what you are interested in and whether you have any specific needs. This way, we can find a suitable mentor for you and put together a group with similar interested mentes. Your Chaosmentor will contact you and your group before the Congress so that you can get to know each other. At the congress itself, you will be able to explore together.
