We run YaCy instance(s) within the 30C3 intranet to index the conference pages and all the shared stuff. YaCy is a peer-to-peer search engine software, but in the context of the 30C3 we run instances in a so-called 'robinson mode' (they keep an index for themself, but share it to the community or search peers).
We like to hear your comments and wishes for search applications and try to create that within the time of the 30C3. Please tweet your comments and wishes to our file search @yacy_search

YaCy 30C3 Conference Search
The YaCy 30C3 Conference Search indexes all the static (i.e. the 'Fahrplan') and the dynamic (i.e. the wiki) content.
Android App
Within the first conference day, two developers created independently an android app for the conference search. Here is the 30C3 search app from Marc (source, contact) and the 30C3 search app from Fabian (source, contact)
Conference Search as Default Search In Your Browser
If you search once with Firefox, click-open the Search Engine selector within the search field in the upper right corner of your browser. Then select 'Add YaCy Search on 30C3_conference_search'.
There is a FTP File Share in the conference colocation with a lot of stuff. We run a 30C3 FTP Search Engine for that. Please try it and then hit on the "create a download script" button. Have fun!
Join In! Create a Search Application!
Android apps for search clients were created on the first day from non-YaCy developers, you can do similar as well! While these apps are only for the conference pages, there may be some use for a search client for the 30C3 FTP Search Engine which can also download files that are found (that does not exist yet). A connection between search and download. Can anybody do that?
Hack on the Search Engine
There is a rich set of APIs inside YaCy which are partly standard-compliant (i.e. opensearch, solr). To do searches on these APIs, we give some example here, but don't miss to look for more options in the YaCy API documentation:
