Securing Your Computer 101
Need a refresh? Heard about it before, but then didn't bother going through the trouble? I will give a short presentation about the basics of data encryption, describe attacks such as Cold Boot and Evil Maid, suggest and discuss measures to protect your data, ranging from BIOS password and A/C power adapter alarms over Windows honeypots to epoxy.
- Evil Maid, Cold Boot, Stoned Bootkit, msramdmp
- TRESOR
- Leveraging TPM: TrouSerS, Trusted Grub
- Hardware: Yubikey, eToken, Cryptokey, Smartcards, USB sticks
The goal is to get everyone up to speed on safety and to make everyone employ at least some easy and convenient measures after this workshop.
