Workshops on 29C3

A Workshop has not to be something with hands-on and making – sure it could! It could also be...

  • a gathering of a project group or on a special topic,
  • a contest or a game
  • something outside of the building
  • a small talk
  • a follow-up-discussion on one ob the "big talks" or another topic that happened rencently
  • something else you think that needs to take place at the congress!

Actually a "workshop" is just something, that happens at a special time and place, but doesn't take place in one of the big halls.

Calendar

The following calendar shows all registered activities like workshops, talks at assemblies or within the speakers corner, hand-ons, and stuff like that.

If you are searching a more categorized calendar, you might head to the "Workshop Rooms Calendar" or the "Assembly Calendar".

Or you might choose a calendar of a single workshop room like
Hall 12
,
Hall 13
,
Hall 14
,
Speakers Corner
, or
TenForward
.

Your workshop goes 29C3

On this page you can find a list of planned workshops by participants of the 29C3 and you'll find the necessary information to create your own one.

The idea is, that we will be able to provide a global workshop and talk calendar: Everyone beeing at the 29C3 is able to look at this calendar and will find out what talks or workshops are currently running besides the "big" talks in the three halls.

Registering own workshops or talks

To register your own workshop just use the workshop form.

For now, the crucial information are

  • Name of the workshop/talk (which will be used as the site name)
  • A short description of the workshop/talk
  • A valid email address that might be used by the orga team to contact you

It might even be great, if you give some information about the person and assembly performing the workshop/talk and a rough start- and end-time for the schedule, as well as a location. You can always update this information later.

For a detailed description, you can use the Free text field. This field allows the usual mediawiki syntax.

Location

You can also select a location for your workshop. At the moment valid locations are all assemblies that have selected maybe or yes in their local lectures field, as well as the four workshop rooms:

  • Hall 12 with 60 square meters,
  • Hall 13 with 78 square meters,
  • Hall 14 with 60 square meters,
  • and the Speakers Corner, that is an open space next to hall 1 and the main foyer (as it is open from one side, it would be the one with the most space).

Planning workshops within the workshop rooms works on a "fair use policy":

  • You can plan any timeslot that is still free (FCFS). Take a look into our Calendar or the timelines on the workshop location pages.
  • You may register workshops in one of the workshop rooms with a maximum duration of 3 hours. If you need more time, you might kindly want to ask one of the Assemblies that provide space for workshops, if you can perform your workshop there.
  • Give a valid contact on your workshop page. If no name given, we are not able to contact you in case of questions.

Registered talks and workshops

Already registered talks or workshops are listed here and a calendar can be seen here. You can use the existing workshops or talks as a reference, if you do not yet know, where to start.

The calendar is updated using the semantics feature of the workshop form and template. This may take some time, so be patient.

Crowdsourcing Legislation After a very brief introduction to Open Government, in this talk, Anke Domscheit-Berg will present how citizens can use mass collaboration in bottom up approaches with the power of the internet to 1) monitor legal changes and act upon unwanted ones, 2) prevent laws they don't want to have, up to 3) creating laws exactly how they want them to be. She will highlight the need to transparency on law and law making processes and show tools which help create transparency where governments don't provide such. A deepdive will cover the innovative and most democratic process of crowdsourcing Icelands new constitution, involving social media tools such as twitter and facebook but also offline collaboration with an unprecedent number of people. Anke Domscheit-Berg will show in her talk how mass collaboration and more direct democracy in law making will improve core values of open government: transparency and participation, not just for the law making process but for all ways in which governments function.

Other cases covered include e.g. Transparency Law Hamburg, Law on Security and Order Sachsen Anhalt, ACTA/SOPA/PIPA,CISPA, Global Warming Act (CA).

about the speaker: Anke Domscheit-Berg is an open government consultant and transparency activist. She brought the open government barcamp series to Germany, co-founded the Government 2.0 Network Germany (www.gov20.de), helped organise/contributed to various apps challenges such as Random Hacks of Kindness, Apps for Germany, Apps for Berlin, EU Open Data Challenge and is a regular speaker and writer on topics around digital society. As an entrepreneur, she founded Opengov.me.

GoDo Workshop GoDo is a kind of walking as a spiritual healing rediscovered by Dr. med Hans-Peter Greb. Peter wrote books and is doing workshops all over the world showing this type of walking and will perform a lecture and training there. Language: English/German

This event is also in the break between talks, so those who want to miss any of those can still come!
