I'm an investigative journalist and digital rights activist who has been covering digital surveillance for several years, starting a 2026 year-long investigation into Italy’s invasive surveillance practices and their impact on civil liberties.

After a short break to focus on tech and organized crime, I’ve just been awarded the Bertha Fellowship — an international program for investigative journalists and activists — which will allow me to return to the spyware beat throughout 2026, with reporting for Wired in both Italian and English.

The fellowship includes a major investigation, of course, but what matters most to me is the development of open-access resources (including an ebook and a webinar series) to help journalists protect themselves and their sources from digital threats.

For this reason, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you, whenever you might have time, to explore a possible collaboration. I’m particularly interested in how spyware has evolved into a digital weapon of mass surveillance — often in silence, or even with the tacit approval of European institutions.
