I originally planned to do a talk on this, but sadly it didn't get picked up. Because of that, I haven't really dug into the data lately, but I'm planning to give it a proper go in 2026.
It’s roughly 100 GB of raw compressed data—the GPS pings for every available Nextbike every 3 minutes.
By polling regularly like this, you can extract trips; I’ve counted 19 million up to October. By using an OpenRouteService server, you can guess which routes people are taking. It’s not a perfect methodology, but it's really interesting for urban planning insights.
Next steps could be correlating it with weather data and so on. If you have ideas, let me know! I’d also be happy to find a co-speaker for the eventual talk.
Also, if you have tips on how to handle this data responsibly/ethically, I’d love to hear them.

The system was build using the "Blackbird 8-core bundle" from Raptor Computing Systems around 2020. It consists of:
The system was assembled by me in a low-dust environment while using consumer-grade ESD equipment (anti-static wrist strap, anti-static mat). After the initial assembly, the mainbaord and CPU were not removed again.
The system was only used for 1-2 months, most of the time it was stored in the box of the Fractal Design case. The household that the system was used in and stored in is a clean, pet-free and non-smoking household.
Today, the all the components in the system combined together would cost about 5270 EUR.
Price: 4200 EUR via SEPA wire transfer (I don't have paypal and don't want 4200 EUR in cash :S )
The system is currently in my apartment (I live in Hamburg) about 40min from the Congress via public transport. Of course you can test the system, and we can set up a buying contract if you like. Feel free to ask me anything regarding this offer :)

I bought this basically awesome thing on eBay recently. I don't have the original box with me unfortunately, but I'm happy to mail it to you later.
It’s a nice mechanical keyboard, still made in Germany and with a trackball right on the right side. It also has the option to toggle a numpad onto the regular keys using the fn key.
The catch: It has some kind of European QWERTY layout (couldn’t figure out which one with 2 minutes of research) and, more importantly, it has smaller key spacing than usual—hence the "XS" in the name. That makes it take some getting used to when typing, but as long as you can handle that, it clicks very nicely.
The trackball works too, as long as you don't flick it insanely fast, which is just how those things are.
Open to price offerings, can be tested. If you pay me 40 EUR I didn't loose money on it.
