Assembly

MtG@39C3

This assembly is all about what is probably the oldest and best-known trading card game – the one with five colors, in which spellcasters tap lands, summon artifacts, and pit dragons, angels, or elementals against each other.

Many of us grew up with this game. For many, this trading card game is a piece of cultural heritage – a place where strategy, creativity, and chaos collide.

Our assembly aims to revive exactly that: the fun of playing, learning, and reminiscing together. Whether you bring your own deck or are trying a trading card game for the first time, there's room for everyone here. We provide decks to borrow, explain the basics, and invite you to join in spontaneous games, mini-tournaments, and crazy formats.

A very well-attended event at 38C3, as well as a few spontaneously organized games, served as inspiration for our assembly. In addition to playing, there should also be room for conversation, because ultimately it's about more than just cards: it's about community, the joy of thinking, and the fun of making the impossible possible.

What we offer:

  • Free Play & Casual – Just sit down and play. Commander or Draft – the main thing is to have fun.
  • Learning rounds & introductory sessions – For anyone who's always wanted to try MTG.
  • Loaner decks & cube drafts – No one needs to bring their own cards; we have enough.
  • Mini-tournaments & fun formats – Planechase, Two-Headed Giant – we're shaking up the meta.
  • Card art & flavor talk – Discussions about the design, story, and aesthetics of Magic.
