C3ISDN
A team is planning to operate an experimental ISDN and analog telephony network at the 39C3.
The subscriber lines will be terminated using de-commissioned V5 Access Multiplexers that were donated by telecom operators. Like last year at ISDN at 38C3, we will not be using osmo-v5 but have an actual Siemens EWSD circuit-switched digital telephone exchange on-site!
This network will be provided for people to re-enact the good old telephony days, using anything as old as rotary dial phones, up to the 1990s ISDN experience.
So if you still have your old wired telephones or ISDN equipment in a basement (or attic), please bring it along and get it connected to the network.
