Art and Play: RIOT – What happened at the Stonewall Inn?

Art & Play

The VR-Experience „RIOT - What happened at the Stonewall Inn?“ shows an important milestone in queer history: the Stonewall Riots of 1969. The oppressed queer community of New York defended itself against police arbitrariness, abuse and violence. The Riots resulted into the Christopher Street Day, which is now celebrated annually all over the world.  Relive those history-changing moments and immerse yourself with our VR-Experience to the bar where it all began: the Stonewall Inn.

The VR-experience RIOT was developed by Hilda Hedberg, Nico Petermann and Anna Lena Reisinger in the modul “Hyperobjects and Hybidreal Spaces” in the Bachelor Communication Design at HTW Berlin. Hyperobjects are objects (not necessarily physical) that are too large to be grasped in their entirety; such as the pandemic or historical events. Although the three artists come from a creative-illustrative background, they have recently been bringing their projects to life using new technologies. They mainly deal with inclusion and socially relevant issues.
