Day 4

Ever since the revolutionary uprisings in East Kurdistan, Balochistan and Iran following the death of of Jina Emînî after mistreatment by the Iranian morality police, the slogan "Jin Jiyan Azadî" has become known worldwide as a symbol of the struggle for women's liberation. But the Kurdish women's movement has been fighting for far longer under the slogan "Woman, Life, freedom" for the liberation of life through a women's revolution. With the revolution in Rojava, which has been continuously built up and defended for over 10 years, such a revolution based on women's liberation, radical democracy and social ecology has become reality. It offers a perspective for a peaceful and democratic coexistence of the people in the Middle East and beyond. What are the ideas behind the slogan "Jin Jiyan Azadî" and what does the practice look like in the liberated areas of Kurdistan? Together we want to get to the bottom of this and discuss the significance of the struggle of the Kurdish women's movement for us in Germany and a women's movement worldwide.
