epicenter.works & epicenter.academy

Epicenter.works has been defending fundamental rights in the digital age for over 14 years. Formerly known as working group on data retention (AKVorrat), we annulled the infamous data retention surveillance bill of the EU in 2014. Since then, we have been fighting against state surveillance, for net neutrality and much more. We work independently of all political parties and corporate interest. We are fact-based and always try to bring solutions to the table. We are based in Vienna, but our work is 50% at EU and UN level.

At 37c3 our team of nine people is present. Come by to pick up stickers or postcards and talk to us. We have several self-organised sessions and a talk on the big stage on the dangers of digital identification systems (Please Identify Yourself!).

The Epicenter.academy has been launched this year. This is our educational arm, with which we try to bring basic digital literacy to wider society, particularly those that are currently overlooked. This team is also on site and their eLearning is freely available: https://epicenter.academy/e-learning (german only)
