Knitting Hidden Images
A special but simple knitting process effectuates stunning images if viewed from an angle. Looking directly at the illusion knitting you only notice secret stripes.

Any garment from wristwarmers, scarfs, headwear or pad covers, mobile socks etc. can be designed with a hidden image. You can even "write" an 'encrypted' message on a scarf, i.e. Learn how to design and knit your own motive.

A special but simple knitting process effectuates stunning images if viewed from an angle. Looking directly at the illusion knitting you only notice secret stripes.
Any garment from wristlets, scarfs, headwear or else can be designed with a hidden image. You can even "write" an 'encrypted' message on a scarf, i.e.
Learn how to design and knit your own motive.

The construction of an illusion image is worked in stripes of two rows. You only knit with one thread at a time, what makes it supereasy. One pair of rows in one color generates the background, the other creates the image in knitting the reverse. What we do:

  • learn to read an illusion chart
  • knit a wristlet to practice the technique
  • learn to construct/chart our own motive
  • knitting!!!

Skills:

cast-on, cast-off, knit and purl stitches.
A little exercise in knitting is beneficial, it's not an absolute beginners' workshop.

Material to bring with:

Contrasting yarns in two colors, matching knitting needles, pencil, eraser/rubber
Note: the needle should be about minus 0,5 - 1mm to the given needle size on the yarn label.

Grid or graph paper will be available.

One meeting à 3 hours is announced. And to provide the participants with all necessary information and give help for their projects I'll be available the other day in the morning.

We'll will meet at the CCC Freiburg assembly and change location if neccessary.
The workshop will give basic instructions. If you'll need further help I will be available the other morning.

You will be provided with any further details when available.

Update Dez 26: A list of participants will be put at the column between the CCC Freiburg Assembly and the Swiss Assembly.
I have some yarn and needles available for those who are on the spur of the moment.
To provide you with material I would be glad to know how many interested people will take part.
