Will the use of the bikes limited to the people who donate money or will there be free to use for all participants of the camp? Julia Lüning 12:01, 28 July 2007 (CEST)

  • And if the first, who will keep an eye on that? Moem 12:12, 28 July 2007 (CEST)

I could bring my own (city, cheap, easily repairable, won't really mind if i lose it) bike (or two) for public use. Would that be helpful? JureKoren Sat Jul 28 12:06:34 CEST 2007

  • Yes that would be great. When do you arrive at the campsite? Actually I'm was planing a bike pool for the crew whn I stumbled into this page. Would you donate one of the bike to HonkHase who usually goes through on pair of shoes every congress while solving problems? Julia Lüning 17:16, 28 July 2007 (CEST)
    • I have one I'm willing to give away, but I can't transport it to the Camp. If anyone can pick it up in Arnhem, the Netherlands today, tomorrow or on monday... We leave on tuesday. Moem 18:31, 28 July 2007 (CEST)
      • I do have a number of bikes, but no method of transportation either. I fear this is the reason why we are setting up the bike-sharing ;-).
        • Well, it was worth a try, wasn't it. Moem 18:42, 28 July 2007 (CEST)
          • People traveling by train can bring one for a few Euros. Just if someone plans to do that. Julia Lüning 20:14, 28 July 2007 (CEST)

I think the bikes should be limited to people who donate. Otherwise we will probably not have enough bikes. But hey... It is a guest-organized project, so post your ideas and we will decide together how to handle it. I hope, that we can make a deal with the infodesk, so they will have a look at the bikes while they are not in use.

@JureKoren: Sure it would help :-). After all every bike that we have to rent will cost us 22 Euros...

When do you arrive and when will the bikes be available ? doc_coffee

@doc_coffee: Good point. I have not thought of the organisation very much. For right now I just wanted to know whether there is any interest in the project. It seems, that there is. There are 2 things that are troubeling me right now:

  1. I am already helping the NOC and the conference team. Thus I will be low on time
  2. The "what if"s. What if something goes wrong that will get us in trouble with the bike rental place (broken/stolen bike,...). It is very improbable that something does go wrong, but my bank account displays me this wonderful easy readable number of 18,26 Euros. Yes, this is going to grow and I do have a small amount of "emergency money", but I will be unable to come up for anything if something does go wrong.

It would be so sad if this project does not work out, so I will be thinking of a solution. In the meantime I would be happy if anybody would like to to takte part (actually to do the main part) of the organisation. yankee

I'm afraid I can't arrive before the afternoon on the 7th. I will bring one bike (and one for my gf who is likely to tour the area while the camp goes on) and if it's still available in the morning on the 13th, I'll also take it back home :) JureKoren Sat Jul 28 12:06:34 CEST 2007
