Syntax of a Photon
Artist: Eigensound Lab
Genre: Interaktive Installation
Syntax of a Photon is an interactive light and sound sculpture that explores the creative potential of quantum computing in generative music. It invites visitors to step into the strange realm of quantum physics, where each interaction creates a unique sonic and visual landscape. Positioned as though inside a photonic processor, visitors can adjust the controls to influence what they see and hear in the hidden patterns of quantum interference. The work draws on feminist theory to offer a new perspective on objectivity in quantum science by facilitating embodied, situated encounters with quantum phenomena and challenging the concept of a detached, neutral observer.
Artist Bio: Eigensound Lab are Emma Sokoll, Edy Fung and Benjamin Maaß, a group of artists and quantum physicists who explore quantum technologies and phenomena from diverse perspectives, embracing uncertainty and complexity as defining conditions of our time. Situated at the intersection of art and quantum physics, the collective develops new modes of sensing and storytelling through installations, performances and collaborative research. Their work merges artistic practice, scientific investigation and technological experimentation within a shared space of inquiry that may take shape as both the quantum optics laboratory and the exhibition environment, with direct links often drawn between the two.
