Open Data für Eisenbahn & Streckenkunde Digital
At 39C3, I will present my project Streckenkunde Digital, demonstrate its current development state, and actively seek feedback and discussion. I am especially interested in input from people with a background in public transport, as well as from anyone concerned with practical, functional, and realistic digitalisation in this domain.
Streckenkunde Digital is a self-organised software project aimed at the digital management of route knowledge records for train drivers in public transport, with a focus on the DACH region. The project is developed by myself alone, without commercial interests and independently of transport operators, manufacturers, or existing operational systems.
In everyday practice, route knowledge records are still often maintained on paper or in fragile, hard-to-maintain in-house solutions. The goal of this project is to improve this situation through a lean, user-centred, and practice-oriented digital solution that reflects real operational needs.
A key focus lies on open data and VzG route information, as these can form the foundation for more advanced and convenient features. References to relevant data sources, shared experiences, or critical perspectives are explicitly welcome.
Streckenkunde Digital is a non-commercial side project with the aim of addressing a real-world problem in a meaningful way while continuously learning along the way. If you want to contact me before the event, use one of those channels: discord: cloudmaker97 | matrix: @cloudmaker97:matrix.org
