Platforms infer preferences from behavioral traces and compress them into low-dimensional representations for prediction and optimization. This artwork exposes that translation: preference data becomes “smoothed” into predicted behavior. Contrast humans: messy, plural, contextual, changing.  Are we that simple? Or are machines craft convenient caricatures of us?
