Day 2
Greg Egan's „Dichronauts“: A universe with two timelike dimensions
Just one sign switched and all of physics changes: Objects can now roll uphill and are stretched towards infinity when rotated. Planets are no longer spherical but hyperbolic and stars have a dark cone where none of their light shines into. In this talk, we will explore the weird physics in a spacetime with signature (-,-,+,+) as presented by Greg Egan in the novel „Dichronauts“.
For everybody. No prior knowledge required. (Knowing metrics is helpful, but they will be explained.)
