Mobile Streaming?
As mobile streaming clients start to appear (iPod touch, Neo1973 w/ Wifi, Nokia 770, ...) I would love to see low-bandwidth (about 500 kbps) streams. Anyone? --Astro 16:34, 23 December 2007 (CET)
- We are planning to offer the WMV-streams as 1Mbit/s and 500kbit/s --Niere 17:03, 23 December 2007 (CET)
Audio only Stream?
A audio only stream would be nice, especially for people like me who have a low bandwidth. --0day 11:42, 27 December 2007 (CET)
- We are not offering any (too much trouble with the current streams already).
- There are audio only (.mp3) recordings, available per HTTP/FTP. so you can use them like on-demand-streams with mplayer or sth.
Best of luck
I wish you best of luck with the streams.
- Thanks :) --Niere 14:17, 27 December 2007 (CET)
License/Mirroring/etc?
Is there any license-info? Is streaming allowed? What about reencoding? Adlerweb 13:34, 27 December 2007 (CET)-
- If you want to use/distribute any lecture recordings, you have to talk to the speakers. FeM has an agreement to offer live streams and recordings, but that is only for the official CCC streams/encodings.
QOS for the streams?
Sadly it seems like someone forgot to set up QOS for the streams, so they don't really work right now.
- How are you sure that those two things are connected? --Niere 14:17, 27 December 2007 (CET)
Local Streaming
Is there any local streaming server? Arved 17:14, 2
One bus of the video mixer is monochrome. I suspect that it's just an effect beeing turned on of that bus. Perhaps the bus has an "effect" button somewhere which needs to be 'depressed'. 7 December 2007 (CET)
- Unfortunately not. --Niere 23:11, 27 December 2007 (CET)
- We are now offering the WMV streams in the congress-local network. See the Streaming-page for the IP-addresses. --Niere 16:13, 28 December 2007 (CET)
Saal3 audio to loud
Could you please turn down the audio level of Sall3 down a bit, it's already clipping.
Thanks --Casandro 17:33, 27 December 2007 (CET)
- Please report short-lived requests like this via telephone to our videostudio number 1160. --Niere 17:28, 29 December 2007 (CET)
WMV ?
Maybe this was asked before, but why not provide streams using free codecs like Ogg/Theora?
Reply: That question is asked every time. FeM just can only do WMV it seems, recoding it would be somewhat of a hassle. The real question is why we don't have a second alternative streaming team independently streaming the audio and video. Not that I dishonour the work and dedidication the FeM puts into the work, but it would fullfill the discordian spirit way better if we'd have several streams. Perhaps once I can afford to go to the congress (probably in 2009) I'll see if I can organice something. --Casandro 18:30, 27 December 2007 (CET)
There are (not for the first time) additional encoding teams, offering alternative streams in formats like Ogg/Theora. Btw: the thing with the free formats is, that some years ago there haven't been free formats that really worked out. WMV was just the best choice then, and as mplayer and vlc also learned to play them, it's kind of interoperable now. When there is a stable free alternative, FeM will surely think about switching over.
Saal2 one bus monochrome
One bus of the video mixer is monochrome. I suspect that it's just an effect beeing turned on of that bus. Perhaps the bus has an "effect" button somewhere which needs to be 'depressed'.
Perhaps there is also an effect menu somewhere. Otherwise you could also swap busses.
Thanks --Casandro 18:47, 27 December 2007 (CET)
- Once again please call the videostudio via 1160, if you see something like that. But I am pretty sure we already noticed and are working on it! --Niere 17:31, 29 December 2007 (CET)
No Stream on Saal1
Day 2, 0:00 (Rule 43 Contest) - no stream. Are there other events that will not be streamed? (Or which non-lectures will be streamed) Adlerweb 00:16, 29 December 2007 (CET)
Same here, 401 Unauthorized. If this is by any means intentional (and I guess it is considering the topic and the fact that saal 2 and 3(!) streams are still working): Good job at ruining the day for us working folks! Please announce this beforehand the next time, I could have spend the time sleeping in preperation to catch the 5:00 train for my trip to berlin today. Jeez. --Ana 00:23, 29 December 2007 (CET)
Sorry for that but the speakers have not permitted any recordings nor photos of this lecture. They just don`t want to be shown on any webpages with their addiction to pr0n :o) We tried till the last minute befor the lecture starts to get their permission but no way ... ATM all lectures of 29. are allowed to be streamed. --AgtMulda 11:50, 29 December 2007 (CET)
There are nerds without an addiction to p0rn? :o Eh... Anyway - thanks for the info and your grat work! Adlerweb 14:00, 29 December 2007 (CET)
[semi-OT] Interim Music
Since Day One, I have been wondering if the music track played during lecture breaks is the "Vienna Vegetable Orchestra?" --Ksandre 17:05, 29 December 2007 (CET)
no, it's not the vienna vegetable orchestra. it's a tune created for the bcc, see this url: http://www.bcc-berlin.de/de/01/template_popup.php --x 14:05, 30 December 2007 (CET)
Congrats and Thanks
I want to use the chance and thank the team responsible for the streaming as well the folks working to give us conference records so far ahead of schedule. I could only attend the congress for about 1 1/2 days due to work but have been constantly provided by a working stream. Despite some minor glitches, it was an extraordinary success and a giant improvement over the discordian state of the last years. Thanks :) --Ana 22:52, 30 December 2007 (CET)
