Lawful Interception in the Netherlands and Germany

Biographie:

Paul Wouters started his Unix experience with Linux 0.99pl8, so he could program an MUD at home. He is currently a system administrator and legal council for Xtended Internet, a small ISP and consultancy company in The Netherlands where his exposure to a wide variety of Unix flavors (and Microsoft products) has only increased his love for Linux. His obnoxious freedom of speech ideas has resulted in a close bond with Scientology lawyers, spammers, various organisations involved with

Internet Tapping in the Netherlands and the Linux IPsec community. At HAL2001, under the watching eye of the Dutch secret police, he lead the wireless networking team that supported over 500 people simultaniously.

His team was feared for its uncanny ability to trace any disrupting 802.11 source within minutes.

His current project, Opentap, aims to build a completely free GPL'ed tapping system so all ISP's in The Netherlands can finally comply to Dutch (current!) law.

When working, he can usually be found idling at earthmud.org.
