Tomato Butter (spread, vegetarian)'

Note

A super simple recipe, but great for any brunch buffet. The butter be enriched with herbs (oregano, basil, thyme or the like), but I find the plain version the best, with some sesame seeds for a bit of crunch. Can be served on bread, toast etc., also nice for sandwiches, with cheese on top... Plus: It is able to stand a few hours at warmer temperatures.

Ingredients:

  • 250 g butter
  • 70 g canned tomato paste (like this)
  • 2 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • salt, pepper

Preparation time estimated:

  • 5 minutes

Directions:

  • butter should be at room temperature, makes the preparation easier
  • using the fork, mix butter and tomato paste until homogeneous
  • add salt and pepper to taste (about 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper), mix well
  • add sesame seeds, mix well
  • keep refrigerated until use
