Everybody wants to develop cooler hardware, but how do you outsource bigger subsystems pragmatically? Experiences from a project that went well.
  • Companies and hackers like to build bigger and better hardware. Just look at the Flow3r badge as a great example. Unfortunately, most companies do not possess all the resources to do everything themselves. While they still need to provide a great product for their clients. So they need to look elsewhere to develop a subsystem, while also meeting quality expectations. Strangely enough, projects done by hackers have a lot of parallels.

  • This talk will show how jhaand developed an electro-mechanical sub-system for an medical X-ray system at a big OEM, while not going crazy and delivering great quality. Although this project ran in 2009, it went so well that this example still remains relevant. Especially for hackers that want to develop bigger assemblies that combine hardware and software.
