The workshop will follow a guide created by hacker Rop Gongrijp that uses simple widely available open parts to make a small pocket sized 4" touch screen device based around a Raspberry Pi Zero in a sleek 3D printed case. An ideal use case is as a single purpose device for secure messaging with Pidgin or Coy IM.
What software you run on the device is 100% up to you. To make things simple we will use Raspian.
There are enough parts provided to make up to 5 devices. Cost per device is 150 EUR. If you have your own parts you are welcome to participate.
- Hyper Pixel 4" LCD touchscreen
- Raspberry Pi Zero
- Adafruit Powerboost 1000C
- Small LiPo battery
- SD Card
- Small power switch
The custom designed case is open source and can be easily 3D printed.
