Call for Participation

Chaos Communication Camp 2011
August 10th thru August 14th 2011
Finowfurt near Berlin, Germany, Europe, Earth, Milky Way

The Chaos Communication Camp is an international, five-day open-air event for hackers and associated life-forms. It focuses on contemporary and future issues surrounding technology and its social and political consequences. You can find information about the past three Camps here.

The camp provides a relaxed atmosphere for free exchange of technical, social, and political ideas. Discuss, sunbathe, and enjoy camping with some of the most interesting people you might ever meet. And all that with internet, power, an abundance of weird self-made gadgets, and people willing to explain them to you, right next to your tent.

Here we call to you not only to participate in but to give your own lectures and workshops. In return we offer lecture halls filled with bright people for your presentations and eager and knowledgable discussions of your talk.

If you can tell us something about new or widely unknown technology we want to know about it. If you are using some kind of technology in a way different from what it was meant for we want to know about it.

But we are not only interested in technology and science for its own sake. As technologies like the www and cell phones by now are part of everybody's life (especially in so-called developing countries) we are equally interested in its social implications, be it through digitally opening governments with leaking and (micro-)blogging or the collection data through big corporations.

In general, lectures and workshops dealing with technology, ethics, science, security, art, philosophy, politics, culture and cooking are welcome. And a special theme of this year's camp is our planned Hacker Space Program.

You can also organize a tent village with your friends and present your favorite projects. Last time there were villages organized around projects / topics like the GSM village, the Audio Village, the Flying Objects Village, and villages of hackers who traveled together from one region, nation or network segment. But you don't need to stop here: Maybe you want to tackle that big reverse-engineering project or write the great software you always dreamed of?

In any case don't forget that you can add to the camp in lots of other ways as well. So bring those gadgets, Go boards, webapps, p2p-simulators, knitted hardware protectors, drones, and lockpicking sets and expect people to come to you wanting to learn more.

Abstracts of lectures and presentations should be submitted to our paper submission system on https://cccv.pentabarf.org/submission/Camp_2011 and are due May 1st, 2011. We will inform you about our acceptance or rejection of your abstract before June 1st, 2011. If you have further questions regarding your talk submissions contact camp2011-content@cccv.de

If you want to organize a village please let us know via camp2011-villages@cccv.de. We will have some information and questions for you.
