We are using Unofficial Cardboard's new 2.0 Plus, which allows adjustment of the inter-pupillary distance.
No skills or tools are required, but bring your Android or iPhone. (To get the most from the session, please install Cardboard compatible software in advance.) Here is a list of apps.
My sons and I have run Cardboard workshops at EMF Camp 2014, Tokyo Hackerspace and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, and as part of Toronto's 2015 Maker Festival.
The workshop is suitable for all ages, including children. Each kit costs EUR 20, which you can pay at the event.
If you have a recent Android phone, and know how to use the Camera app to take Photospheres, they are particularly nice to view with the headset.
