We will provide to you the best phone infrastructure of all chaos events, combined with the shortest setup time ever. So do not forget to bring your DECT phone with you (and the right charger, maybe even a headset if you have one). In addition to many other features and easter eggs, the stages’ audio and simultaneous translations will be available via telephone. Heck, we might even bring hall H’s soundtrack right to where you are.

#32C3 lecture streaming and recording

Dear Congress visitors and those who didn’t make it: Like in the previous years, the Video Operation Center will provide you with live streams and recordings of all main lecture halls (1, 2, G and 6) and the stage at Sendezentrum. As usual, you’ll find the video and audio streams at https://streaming.media.ccc.de and the recordings at https://media.ccc.de/c/32c3.
We also publish to our YouTube Channel “media.ccc.de” to cater to those with broken playback devices. We’ll continually be publishing the recordings there during Congress. Please avoid linking other channels which re-upload our work (with ads).

If you are unable to join us at the CCH you can also participate in 32C3 remotely as part of Congress Everywhere and meet up at a hackerspace to watch the streams, drink some Mate and ask questions via IRC or Twitter.

Again, we’re happy to be able to bring you additional content: Audio from the “Podcaster-Tisch” (Podcasting-Table) of the Sendezentrum as well as music from the Chaos-West Assembly, the Lounge, the Anti-Error-Lounge and from the Dome on the roof of the CCH.

Like at the previous Congress and this year’s Camp, all videos will be produced and published in HD and we try hard to ensure the best image quality and correct metadata on the files. Thus, we ask you not to record the streams (or at least not to publish such recordings), as those do not live up to the standards we set for our recordings. For the time between a talk and when we publish the recording, you can use the Relive system. We wrote more on the topic of stream dumps in this blog post.

We also did some upgrades with the live subtitles. They should now work on more devices and also when watching the video stream in fullscreen mode. The subtitles team will focus this time exclusively on halls 1 and 2 and wants to cover those 100%. In both halls the live subtitles can be watched on two screens in the front rows as well as on an arbitrary device via a web frontend. For this Angels are still wanted, both for live transcription and as responsible contact person for a hall.

No Ticket? Try Congress Everywhere!

Can’t be in Hamburg? No Ticket? No Problem. Try Congress Everywhere!

There are still various reasons to experience the Congress from a safe distance. Family, job, travel expenses or this year again, no ticket. We are very sorry but the capacity of the building is limited. But we invite all interested people to attend the 32C3 via Congress Everywhere. Watch the

streams, participate via twitter or IRC, celebrate your own Hackcenter experience, drink Tschunk, cook together and have a good time.

You can ask a question to a speaker via IRC or Twitter, you can listen the audio streams and the simultaneous translations via phone (also SIP). You can join the 32C3 network via VPN. You can dispatch a signal angel to an area in the CCH. For an online interactive coming together just use the IRC-channel #32C3-everywhere at hackint.

No 32C3 location in your city? Create a new Congress Everywhere space and add the location in the wiki. During 29C3 we had 34 places in 9 countries, last year even so 31. This year we are very happy to say hello to the already announced spaces in Graz (Austria), Antwerp (Belgium), Sofia (Bulgaria) and in Germany: Berlin, Bochum, Darmstadt, Düsseldorf, Erfurt, Freiburg, Heilbronn and Siegen.

At 32C3, we will again provide to you a phone infrastructure operated by the Phone Operation Center (POC), so do not forget to bring your DECT phone with you (and the right charger, possibly a headset if you have one). Video and audio streaming during #cccamp15

As with most chaos events, c3voc and friends will cater for recording and streaming of the lectures in the two main tents. On the campsite you will be able to watch them on DVB-T channels 35, 40, 49 or listen to them on your DECT or GSM phone (numbers 8001 & 8002 and 8011 & 8012 for simultaneous interpretation). There will be programming broadcast on FM radio at 89.30 MHz and DAB at 211.648 MHz (channel 10B).

If you participate via the internet, you can enjoy our live streams using your favorite device at https://streaming.media.ccc.de. If all goes well, we will also provide ReLive streamdumps there, in case you missed a lecture. We’ll experiment with multicast streams, check back with us at https://streaming.media.ccc.de/multicast/ for more information. After the event, all recorded lectures will be available in better quality on https://media.ccc.de. Beware of lectures marked as „optout“ in the schedule – we will neither stream nor record them!

As a special service for the villages and their participants who’d like to broadcast, we will also provide a free audio-streaming infrastructure. It’s for everybody on the Camp site, who wants to transmit music, sound or noise to the world wide webs. Those streams will appear side-by-side with the main video- and audio-streams at https://streaming.media.ccc.de. If you would like to publish one or more such streams, please visit the corresponding wiki page. We’ll publish more information there, once the service is up and running.

Change of Plan — Video Streams For Peace Missions

In one of our last posts we’ve invited all peace missions to register their IP addresses by mail. Registered IP addresses will be granted access to a dedicated video streaming relay.

We’ve received mails from lots of people, who’d like to set up a peace mission and gave us their IP address. So far, so good – it’s cool to see so much interest. Unfortunately, now you’ve invested time for sending us an email, we do change the registration procedure.

There will be a web site, where peace missions can register. After we’ve acknowledged a registration you may add or change your IP address on the white list.

Those of you, who already sent us an email, please re-register again by using that web interface.

We want you to come together in Peace Missions all over the world!

Following the success of the dragons everywhere experiment from the 26c3, hackers all over the world are organizing events to bring the 27c3 closer to home. They’re gathering to create their own Hack Center experience, watch the streams, participate via twitter or chats, drink Tschunk, cook and have a good time.

Following your suggestions from last year, the Herald Angels are hard at work exploring ways you can participate live in the events! Heralds will be in #behindenemylines on Freenode during selected talks to help you ask questions and participate in events from the streams in your Peace Mission.

If you have other cool ideas how to make the distributed 27C3 the coolest congress ever, just comment on what you can bring, what you’d like to see and what you need from 27C3 Berlin orga. See the Google map and add your location to it!

There will be no VPN this year, instead the external streaming relays will offer guaranteed bandwidth for streaming to registered IP addresses.

Streaming & Recording the Conference

Time (2008-12-29) & Number of Streamers

More than 3500 hackers enjoyed this year’s hacker jeopardy through our network of streaming servers. During the course of 25C3 our friends at

FeM ran an array of 6 wmv streaming servers supplemented by 3 ogg theora relays provided by the Chaos family in Ulm and elsewhere. Over 1500 people watched the theora streams, which is almost as many as the wmv streams.

Additionally, we had a number of experimental streams in various other formats.

Streaming and recording the whole conference was only possible thanks to our helpers and angels who ran the live streams and edited the recordings in almost no time. So, if you missed the live events, check out the recordings.
