DiVOC: Call for Watchamacallit

tl;dr:

We’re looking for sessions, angels, and maps. To make the first DiVOC this year a full success, we need three things: angels, self-organized sessions, and maps. Therefor, here are three calls in one. And we have merch!

Call for Maps

The rC3 world was great, and for r2r we’d like to continue it on a smaller scale, so r2r will have a lobby. If you’d like to contribute one or more maps and hook them up to the lobby, please mail us at welt@diese-welt-ist-schlecht.de. Please let us know your hack space/group/project, the link your map is hosted at, and the start layer we should be linking to. We’ll add your map and the link you need to place in your map to return to the lobby here.

Obviously, there is no limited to your creativity, whether you are recreating your hack space, reuse your rC3 map, or create something new – everything is welcome!

If you have a Jitsi or BBB room in your map as a meeting place, please also add this to the wiki as a self-organized session or meeting place, respectively, since not all participants can or would like to get there through the world.

For the fashion-conscious participants there will be merch again this year. T-shirts, hoodies, zippers, shorts & sweatpants are available in the R2R design.
This year also with t-shirts and zippers for the young hackers.

Join the Angels for the best Congress experience

Our Camp and our Chaos Communication Congress would not be possible without the great work of our volunteers, called Angels. Your engagement as an Angel is the perfect opportunity to become a part of Congress and make it even more amazing for everyone involved. Apart from that, volunteering is a great chance to meet new people.

What makes being an Angel so special, you may wonder? Let us answer this with another question: Are you able to run an event with thousands of visitors, creative minds, eager to discuss, explore and most of all: create?

Join the Angels and find out! Doing so, you will join a community as old as the Congress itself. Since the very first Congress in 1984, everything is done by volunteers, later called ‘Angels’. In return, the Angels get some quiet space in the famous ‘Heaven’ including food and drink supply, a Hackcenter exclusively for Angels, and the good feeling of helping out and being part of the Congress experience. If you love crafting and do some construction work we would love if you show up for buildup.

We want to plan the right amount of food and drinks for our build up Angels. Therefore it would be great if you signup right now under engelsystem.de and tell us when you arrive. We will use this to inform you of important dates and the setup schedule. In the near future you can also sign up for your favourite shifts, tasks, and times in the Engelsystem.

Many of the tasks do not need any knowledge besides showing up on time but are nonetheless vital for the Congress. Other tasks may need an introduction with which you will be provided in time at the Congress. Please read the Angel wiki page for basic information. If you are not sure about the whole Angel-stuff or have any questions, just show up in Heaven and ask. Heaven will also announce tasks to be done and short notice tasks. For all new angels out there, there will be special introduction meetings for you the first few days of Congress, in addition to the daily general angel meetings.

So if you have two or more hours to spare, sign up for a shift! We will be waiting for you in Heaven! If you don’t want to participate in making the Congress work, at least take your time and thank at least three Angels every day to show your gratitude. :)

Welcome to Heaven!

A lot of helping hands make the congress what it is: an unforgettable experience. Our volunteers are called ‘Angels’, because that is what they are. Without the help of the Angels the congress wouldn’t be possible. They are managing the preparation, network, recordings, first aid, security, entrance, ticket desk, information centre and lots more.

Do not consume, participate!

We’re always looking for volunteers to help us manage everyday tasks at the congress. If you want to help making the 27C3 a huge success, contact us at 27c3-himmel@lists.ccc.de or visit the “Heaven” (“Himmel”) at the congress. In order to do shifts you need to have an account at the Angel-System (Engelsystem). Q: What do I have to do as an Angel? A: You can sign up for shifts using the Angel-System, or you can just ask the Shift Coordinator in Heaven.
Q: Do I have to help every day?
A: No! It would be better if you did enough shifts, but it is your choice when.
Q: I want to attend a specific talk. Can I do that?
A: Of course! It is your choice at what times and how long you’re helping out.
Q: Do I have any benefits as a volunteer?
A: Sure. First of all, the knowledge of having done your part in making the congress awesome! But also the experience of doing cool work with nice people and entry into Heaven. In Heaven, you get free coffee around the clock and free but oh so tasty sandwiches from time to time, just in case you did not find the time to eat between your shifts. Angels who work for a certain number of hours also get a special congress shirt as a little thank you.
Q: Do angels get cheaper tickets? A: No. Not unless they are under 18 or members of the CCC e. V.
