We’re looking for crew members of all IT-Fields and would be happy if you could help us discovering the digital oceans.

Our focus lies – among other things – on network navigation and cryptography, the development of free software above and below sea level and the use of autonomous nautic drones.

The MRMCD dockyard has one of the biggest centers for the recovery of sunk costs, as well as a locksmith’s shop to stuff data leaks and vulnerabilities. That’s why it’s the ideal environment to advance your nautic research projects.

The interests of our participants spans across all fields of information technology – and beyond. You can find our ship’s logbook and past years’ destinations in our archive.

Are you ready for a new adventure? Then grab your rubber duckies and head for MRMCD!

Please sunmit your proposals until 28 July 2024 via our portal. We appreciate your ideas, even if they don’t quite fit our theme. All proposals will receive feedback until 12 August whether they were accepted. As speakers you can look forward to our famous all-round treatment in the officers’ mess.

We made five kinds of ticket available, hoping one of them matches your financial reality. About the event:

The MetaRheinMainChaosDays (MRMCD) is a regularly held conference of the Chaos Computer Club since 2004. It is organized by the non-profit MRMCD e.V. in collaboration with local hackerspaces, CCC groups, and nearby universities. The conference will take place on the first weekend of September 2023 (01 - 03.09.2023) at the Piloty Building (S2|02) of TU Darmstadt.

Every year, the organizing team chooses a new motto and event design, but the conference always focuses on updates and developments in the field of IT security. Just like in previous years, there will be round-the-clock breakfast provisions available for all attendees.

MRMCD-CfP: Who Owns Reality?

Our reality is undergoing radical transformation. The global climate is changing, and that doesn’t just affect the weather.

The products of machine learning have reached a quality that makes it impossible for most people to distinguish between what is real and what is fake. “Facts” are generated as desired and accompanied by appropriate evidence in words, images and sound. The line between fact and fantasy becomes blurred and is controlled by whoever has the biggest following.

This situation inevitably leads us to the question: Who owns reality?

We are looking for talks and workshops that address IT security, privacy, eGovernment, fake news, deep fakes, machine learning, “AI & copyright” or anything else that comes to your mind. Please submit your talks for MRMCD 2023 by 30 July 2023 at talks.mrmcd.net/2023/cfp.

If you would like to submit a talk but are not sure yet whether your idea suits the conference or how to present your idea: please do not hesitate to contact us at chatbot (et) mrmcd.net. Even if you haven’t given a talk yet – we gladly support aspiring prompt artists. If you can think of someone you think we should invite, we’d also be happy to hear from you via email. We welcome talks and other content in English and German. If you want to present in other languages, please reach out to us so that we can help you with your idea.

Since 2004 the MetaRheinMainChaosDays (MRMCD) are an annual conference held by the Chaos Computer Club (CCC). They are collaboratively organized by the non-profit MRMCD, local Hackerspaces, CCC groups and universities. The 2023 conference will take place on the first weekend of September (1-3 Sep) at the Piloty building (S2|02) of the Technical University of Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt).

Our dedicated team chooses a new motto and theme every year, but our main focus is always current events and interesting developments in IT security as well as current topics. Furthermore, the MRMCD offer the opportunity to deal with current issues in the digital world and to exchange ideas about them, as well as to establish contacts in various research areas. An important concern of the MRMCD is the exchange about new technologies and developments in the Internet as well as the opportunity for informal discussions across professional boundaries.

MRMCD 2018: Tickets available

Tickets are now available for this year’s show at the MRMCD cinema. You can now reserve your seat at presale.mrmcd.net. Since we are expecting to sell every seat of the cinema, we expect that there will be no box office on site. Also, our unique MRMCD merchandising will only be available to online buyers.

Again, there are three ticket prices, hopefully allowing both regular and new cinema visitors of every age to attend. As every year, MRMCD 2018 take place on the first weekend of September (September 7–9th, 2018) and like last year we’re guests at TU Darmstadt’s Computer Science Department in the Piloty building.

Be it a documentation on IT security, blood curling horror in privacy, breathtaking action on how to use public data, comedy enactments of IT fails, security theatre, CSI:Cyber, performative exploits – we’d love to be your adoring audience.

We are looking for talks and workshops taking an in-depth look at our core topics surrounding IT security – both on a technical and a social level. The last years have handed us many popcorn worthy talking points, and we’re looking forward to your award-winning interpretations. You can submit your talks or workshops here until July 30th.

Please be patient with us: Our schedule still is a young plant that needs to grow. Not all speakers have already confirmed their appearance yet and some talks will still shift their exact times.

If you did not do so already, you can buy one of the very last tickets in our ticket shop. We assume that the presale will be sold out very soon. There will be a handful of tickets for sale on site, but since the capacity of the building is limited we cannot promise you to get in without a ticket from the presale.

Calling upon all shrubbery connoisseurs!

The Call for Participation for our humble little data exhibition is nearly over. You have only three days left to kickstart your career in data gardening by submitting a talk or workshop.

Our focus lies on private and public data this year: How do you protect private data – and from whom? How do you use public data? To what purposes? – But apart from that, we’re also interested in our usual topics, such as IT security, open source software, embedded systems, networks, anonymity and whatever really cool projects you’re currently working on.

If you’re not sure if you really should submit a talk (spoiler: yes) or if your talk title is catchy enough, just ask us (at parkaufsicht(at)mrmcd.net)!

Also, we currently still have MRMCD tickets on sale and we highly recommend that you buy yours now, as it is unclear whether there will be conference mugs in an unique MRMCD design left, if you buy yours on site. The MetaRheinMainChaosDays (MRMCD) are proud to announce that they will host the first Bundesdatenschau (federate data show) on September 1st to 3rd – we’re looking forward to all kinds of data accompanied by their owners! We are looking for talks und workshops taking an in-depth look at the usage of public data and the protection of private data. We’re asking: How are public data resources (ab)used? Where and how has data been made public that shouldn’t have been? Who’s grabbing private data, and what are you doing against it? We’re interested in both social and technical answers. The presale of this year’s MRMCD tickets has started a few weeks ago, you can buy your tickets and t-shirts at presale.mrmcd.net. The presale runs until July 25th.

With buying your tickets in advance, you make organizing this conference a lot easier for us. It enables us to properly plan the event and gives us the money we need to have in advance to buy all the things a conference needs. There will be a ticket sale on-site, but no t-shirts and no guaranteed goodies.

We are currently looking for practicing participants of all IT sectors, and would be pleased if you could contribute to our therapy program.
The key aspects of our work lie – amongst other things – in network surgery and cryptography, plastical and reconstructive open source development as well as the usage of medical robots.
MRMCD clinic includes one of the largest and most advanced centres for the treatment of medical device hacks, as well as a clinic for violations against the hacker ethics.

MRMCD 2015: Submission and presale deadline arrives soon

Dear sports fan,

traditionally, the MRMCD provide you with wonderful conference cups for your daily coffee as well as cool gadgets and an all-day breakfast, but also with a comprehensive set of workshops, talks and (this year) competitions.

In order to plan all these things, we need your help. If you’d like to give a talk or organize a workshop, please tell us via the frab system now!

The submissions deadline is the 9th of August. We will inform all speakers whether their talk is being accepted by 11th of August and we will publish the program soon after.

If you do not have a ticket yet, you can buy one until 16th of August. There will be a ticket sale on site, but there are probably no awesome cups or gadgets at the door, as well as no t-shirts or hoodies.

We kindly ask you to make use of our ticket presale, as we need that data (and money) to plan properly for the event. The graph below shows why: We need to spend most of the money before the event. This makes our work harder – and it can be solved by you buying your ticket in advance.

MRMCD2015: Call for Participation

For this years MRMCD we’re looking again for interesting contributions. Topics usually present on the MRMCD are for example Open Source projects, Cryptography, Social Networks, embedded systems, programming languages, privacy and anonymity and the resulting social questions.

According to this year’s topic we’re especially looking forward for topics on the interface of body and technology, let it be research or development under the keyword Self Quantization or interesting technologies from the field of sports and competition.

This list is in no way complete though. The MRMCD is known for a broad and interesting spectrum of subjects. Our visitors are always interested in learning and mastering seemingly off topic knowledge.

According to this years theme we plan to have competitions for the guests of the conference. We’re looking forward to your e-mail (send to wettkampfleitung at mrmcd.net) if you have ideas about the competitions or maybe even are interested in organizing one.

MRMCD14: Last information call from the building pit

Only one day left until the MRMCD14 opens!

We’re glad to provide you with unique construction site where you can attend workshops, listen to excellent speakers and build up your own ideas.

Unemployed workers willing to help are welcomed to participate in preparation for tomorrows first stone laying. Workforce is planned using our “angel tracking system” – just sign in and apply for a shift. Every worker on our MRMCD construction site gets professional and certified work-wear in compliance to current safety regulations. In addition we like to point out that the MRMCD is a community driven event with unpaid helper and organisers. We rely on your help to make this event a success! Only three weeks remaining until construction starts at the large scale construction site IT security!

Those who could not yet decide themselves to participate at the construction need to act fast now. The presale for conference tickets and clothing for the MRMCD ends finally at Sunday, August 17th 2014 at 23:59. Payments need to be made latest until Tuesday, August 19th!

Payments received after the deadline probably will have to be refunded due to delivery times of our suppliers.

For spontaneous season workers we’ll offer an opportunity to purchase a ticket at the MRMCD construction site.
However no goodies or clothing are included in these tickets. Also the conference mugs can only be guaranteed for presale tickets.

Prime contractors of the MRMCD 2014 building announce the end of the CFP construction phase which is scheduled for the upcoming weekend. Building companies which haven’t submitted a offering are kindly requested to submit their proposal as soon as possible.

The construction management is looking forward to plan the schedule next week. A draft can be expected to be published on the 14.08.2014.

Due to a generous grant by the Chaos Computer Club the MRMCD construction management can afford to pay accommodation and/or travel for proposing building companies (also called speaker). If a submission would otherwise not be possible due to financial constraints, we are happy to help out.
