My first IoT hack
Are you curious about the world of IoT and want to learn how to poke at these devices? So was I! After a bit of tinkering, I managed to get root access on an old "Jensen" brand webcam, and now I'd like to share the journey with you.
This is a best effort 1 on 1 (or few) in promptu workshop type thing. Try your luck and just find me or DM me to agree on a time.
This project is perfect for beginners and enthusiasts interested in learning the basics of hardware hacking, analyzing IoT devices, and exploring their inner workings. Together, we'll look at:
- Identifying key components on a circuit board
- Using UART debug connections to communicate with the device
- Exploring the operating system running on the webcam
- Running commands to understand and interact with the device
I’ll guide you through what I’ve discovered so far, and we can figure out the rest together in a collaborative ad-hoc workshop. You don’t need prior experience — just a willingness to learn and some curiosity.
